Oh, yes! Alice Munro is a genius. I love her work.

Thanks for mentioning her!

I have! And I read another this morning. As I mentioned in another post, I am slowly working my way through the revised and updated edition of Points of View: An Anthology of Short Stories. This morning's story was Alice Munro's epistolary novelette "A Wilderness Station." I enjoyed it quite a bit!

I'm seconding that (read it after seeing it recommended here); delightful indeed.

Not a short story person usually, but here are two I can highly recommend:

The Bunner Sisters by Edith Wharton

Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates

(I can't think of a better place to put this, let me know if I should start a new thread instead. This is short story related, but maybe a rec thread for audiobook podcasts might be relevant?)

I posted here a couple years ago about some really good reads that I'd found because of the LeVar Burton Reads podcast. There were a lot of FANTASTIC shorts that he shared with the world. Unfortunately, Mr. Burton decided to end that podcast last year.

I just found out that there will soon (tomorrow?) be a new podcast that is the spiritual successor to that podcast and has been blessed by LeVar Burton narrated by another TNG alumnus: It's Storytime with Wil Wheaton

Announcement and links to the podcast are here: https://wilwheaton.net/2025/03/its-s...s-almost-hear/

If anyone is wanting other science fiction / fantasy short story podcasts this thread has several other options: https://www.reddit.com/r/podcasts/co...ended_what_to/

(The titles listed below are BOOKS of short stories, rather than individual titles.)

I recommend ANYTHING by Flannery O'Connor.

Or, if you want something that skirts genre and literary, try Shirley Jackson's short stories.

For pure, unadulterated Literature (with a capital 'L'), try this author: John Cheever.

If you find dead white guys problematic, then I highly recommend The Stories of Eva Luna, by Isabel Allende. Literature of the highest order!
https://www.amazon.com/Stories-Eva-L...s%2C220&sr=8-1

I find all four writers to be wonderful !!!!
