Probably not. From their site,Epubor states, "This tool is downloaded and restored from Github DeDRM_tools-LCP." The updated version of the LCP DRM removal ( the 09/22/2022 version, which is the update to the version that was removed from the NoDRM repository in January 2022. ) is from another public git repository. Looks like all Epubor did was add the updated python script they found in that repository to the current version of DeDRM plugin. Epubor doesn't actually do any of the hard work.

Well, that's a shame for Epubor, but I guess it's good news that somebody did in fact add support for a newer LCP version at some point, so there's hope if more stores start using it.

I hate to defend them, but they actually do have a functioning tool for removing LCP 2.5 which DeDRM/NoDRM couldn't do before the DMCA takedown. they will not straight up sell it though, they ask for $20 a month and then they do the conversions for you and email you the files. I took them up on their demo offer and they removed LCP 2.5 from one of my books. but if they can do it, others can too so it's just a matter of time now.

As I say in the first post, I've been able to extract ePub & PDF from LCP2.0.

I don't have any 2.5 to test on. But, from my reading of the specification, 2.0 - 2.9 are all the same scheme, they just have different encryption keys.

I just checked and can't find any epubs with working links (I only tested internal links, btw). They all work fine in RMSDK, Thorium, Apple Books and the Calibre reader, though, so either the Tolino renderer is overly picky or the version I'm using ain't working correctly (I'm on 5.6.209315, btw).

That sounds like they are trying to end-run around the trafficking part of DMCA Sec. 1201, but ignoring that it also specifically bans services that provide circumvention.

DMCA is a steaming pile. IMHO, fair rights (AKA fair use) trumps DMCA.

Thanks I;ve never seen that before. At least we know it's possible to get LCP removed form eBooks if needed even though it costs.

Remember; we've no idea if it's automated or whether they are just using the method of retrieving content from the Thorium cache
