In the drop down menu it shows the name "Clara Black and White" which is too long. The official model name is Clara BW.

Not unless you want your default output to be KEPUB. There is no need for it since calibre auto converts to kepub when sending to device.

No KEPUB is generated in the calibre library at all. Unless you explicitly convert to KEPUB. The device drivergenerated KEPUB on the fly during sending to device.

I did have KoboTouchExtended installed but having upgraded to Calibre 8.0.1 it has automatically been removed from my plugins. Is this normal please?

I am happy for it to have gone as the new functionality seems to replace any need for it. I just want to make sure I don't need to manually remove anything to prevent a conflict

I use Calibre to upload DRM free ebooks as epub (not kepub) from Standard e-books and then side load to my Kobo as kepub
