I synced my books to my kobo clara bw with v8.0, and I see they’re all kepubs now. I’m not sure if this is related, but I’m noticing that books with multiple authors only show up in the kobo’s authors tab under the first author’s name listed in calibre’s author metadata field. How can I fix this so that the kobo recognizes both authors for the book?

Make sure you have metadata management set to automatic then when you reconnect after the initial connect, the metadata will be corrected for you atomatically by calibre including multiple authors which the kobo firmware does not read from the boo kfiles correctly.

Just to note that this auto conversion of epub to kepub does not happen over wireless connection.

Ah, I see. I tested it, and now the books in question show their multiple authors. The kobo is grouping instances of multiple authors as a single author in the authors tab though. So instead of listing the book under “author A,” and under “author B” it is only listed under “author A & author B.”

Is there a way to set the kobo, or files so that a book will be listed under listings for each of the authors individually just like in calibre? Sometimes I might only remember one author.

How do you even connect a kobo wirelessly? I didn’t know that possible.

Probably with KoReader. It supports the Wireless Device (under Connect/Share).

Is there a list or repo of actively maintained plugins? I haven’t installed many myself, but should probably go through them to make sure I’m not using anything that isn’t being updated.

One way to do this is by setting up a metadata plugboard for any format when the KOBOTOUCH device driver is in use. The best way to do it will depend on whether you're already using other metadata plugboard(s) for KOBOTOUCH. At its simplest:

Calibre Prefs > Metadata plugboards > Add new plugboard

Then fill in 4 columns:

Format: any format
Device: KOBOTOUCH
Source template: program: raw_list('authors', ', ')
Destination field: Authors

Press [Save plugboard] button
Press [Apply] button

You may need to Restart calibre afterwards, but next time you connect the Kobo to calibre all the Author data in the Kobo database should auto-magically be adjusted according to the new KOBOTOUCH/Authors plugboard.

Thanks for reminding me! Because the KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED driver is now gone, I had to update my plugboard to use KOBOTOUCH instead.

I had to search a little before I correctly paired this checkbox to enabling sending KEPUBs. Perhaps mentioning KEPUB specifically might help other users? Just my 2cts ...

Does this driver setting still has any meaning? The plugin KoboTouchExtended is now void as I understand (I at least did removed it).
