Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. I was assuming that JSWolf copied a single KFX file from a Kindle to a PC and then imported that into calibre which would bypass the gathering process normally performed by the KFX Input plugin.

Yeah, I think the word "copied" infers to some of us that they took the azw file from it's original folder location and "copied" it to a new location and then added it to Calibre, which means it should not have worked. But it seems like instead "copied" was used to just indicate dragging it into Calibre from the original location, which does work since the file is in its expected location.

Does process 2a listed in the original post (calibre, old kindle app, deDRM tools) still work? When I import the amazon book, it doesn't display properly (just shows a generic cover, doesn't know any details of the book), and exports fail. Attached is what I see after import.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Ahhhhhh thanks! I misread and thought KFX was just a Mac thing. Working now. Thanks again!

I just did a test and noticed that the single KFX file is larger then the one on the Kindle. So yes, the KFX Input plugin is grabbing all the bits and combining them into the KFX file.

I bought an amazon book recently that won't download using the old kindle app, only the new. What can I do to get it exported?

To be pedantic, it is K4PC version 2.4.0 (build 70904). The only place you will see the 2.4.70904 is in the name of the installer file ( KindleForPC-installer-2.4.70904.exe with SHA-256: E2E4E5BB9FD585947244A4A62CE5BACA47818C439D0213CC9A 5A96F9A692119 )
BTW, for some reason, MobileRead loves inserting spaces in long strings. Last edited by DNSB; 03-22-2025 at 03:57 PM. Reason: Edit: comment on spaces in long strings |

Help needed.
Hi,
I like to convert my omnibusses to docx and edit them, I have been quite happy doing so for a while. Now suddenly I find that caliber cannot convert the kfx file. Not only that but the kfx file is enormous 24.5mb as opposed to 2.5mb in the kindle for pc folder in my documents. And what is with calibre suddenly listing books with the CR!**** tag. Anyway here is the error message that came up when I tried to convert the kfx: Spoiler:
