ISBN-13 starts 978 0r 979
ISBN (10) can have a check character of X or digit, All the rest are digits.

What you show should be RED in the MDE

B0BTPCMNBQ looks like an Amazon code and I don't see that either.

That's bizarre. It's definitely not a personal document but a library loan which I pulled off of my Kindle, which I feel okay ripping since I own a hardback copy:

A hardback copy gives zero legal or moral entitlement to the ebook, unless the publisher says so. A very few titles include the ebook. Not that one.

I've bought ebook versions of paper books to have easier reading.

Won't be the first time Amazon has Garbage data on their catalog pages.

It sure would help if the folk who make these pages had a clue about the Products they are responsible for. The might catch that THAT was their ASIN not ISBN

Got the book again and converted the KFX to EPUB and it has page numbers. So something weird was going on with the last copy on my Kindle. Animal Farm I think we can chalk up to it being an Amazon issue. Thanks for your support!

Version 2.22.0 - 07 Mar 2025

Fix bug that prevented metadata from being shown in Device view for books in KFX format on Kindles do not use MTP (pre-2024 models).

A warning will be added to the conversion log to indicate that approximate page numbers produced by KFX Output have been removed when converting from KFX back to EPUB.

Have you tried a native Linux install of calibre? See the calibre Linux download page for more information.

I did notice something unexpected - some books in which Amazon says they have an estimated page count, not one based on an ISBN, show that page count after converting from KFX to EPUB, but some do not. My expectation was that none of them would show this page count. I wonder if the estimated page count is encoded differently in some files versus others.

I have encountered some books with page numbers present when I was not expecting them. It appears that Amazon adds made up page numbers in some books, but I do not know what triggers that. I have not found any difference in how they are encoded.
