I also use Photoshop (which I subscribe to for other reasons), but sometimes the results aren't very good. I have to say that various removers and content-aware tools in Photoshop have greatly improved in recent years.

Usually the geographic labels are there because many of the musicians in that scene are either listening to each other or sometimes even in the same bands, so they might develop some flavor of the genre sound that makes it distinctive in context, but not obvious to the lay-person. I'm not familiar with Norwegian Death Metal specifically, but Norway was more internationally known in the early 90s for its Black Metal bands, so I'd wager a guess that their own flavor of Death metal probably has some Black Metal influence (not black influence, mind you--what with the white supremacists that were something of a hallmark of that genre).

When it comes to music genres (and genres in general) what I dislike is when they don't actually describe anything about the music itself. An example is "Soundtrack" which only indicates that the song was used in a movie. By that logic, all of the following songs are in the "Soundtrack" genre:

• "Twist & Shout" by The Beatles (featured in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off")

With "Classical", I feel there ought to be both the era and the type (symphony vs concerto etc). It's my pet peeve about iTunes; there's nowhere to put this information apart from the Grouping field. Oh well, will have to get to grips with Foobar2000 once I've ripped the vinyl I can't find on YouTube.

What I do in MediaMonkey is put:

• "Classical-Baroque"
• "Classical-Classical"
• "Classical-Romantic"

and so on.

I'm a mod for a couple of Goodreads groups. I had a janky workaround for exporting a group Bookshelf because GR refuses to implement that functionality for groups. It's worked for years, and it worked in January. Now I can't get it to log in. And I don't know where else to go to ask. Just very frustrated right now.

Yes: Amazon continues to screw around with book titles. I'm more disgusted about that than their elimination of D&T. There must be some jerk running rampant in the Halls of Amazon. (What's that story about the end of the world discovery of a monument depicting a giant cockroach? - You get the idea.)

I'm surprised they haven't done that with authors:

Stephen King, the King of Horror Fiction who is Now an Old Man with Many Films Based Upon his Novels.

I'll leave Marion Zimmer Bradley to the fertile imagination of creative individuals.
