Problem with collections in Kobo eReader

Hello,

I'm finding a problem sending books to Kobo and I'm not able to find the reason (it hasn't happened always or I would have seen it).

I create collections in Kobo based in three custom composite columns, two of them using user-defined templates. If I show the columns in the library view, they are fine. But, when I send the books to the device, it's creating a collection: "ERROR IN TEMPLATE", as it's recalculating something on the fly and it's failing.

What can I check to find the issue?

It happens with the original Kobo Touch Extended Driver and with the current preview which integrates the functionality in the basic driver.

Does it happen with the latest stable version of calibre or is it new to the preview version?

Both. I think it's related to columns evaluated when book is sent to device, but I'm not sue.

Try running in debug mode you might get more information on the failure there

I'll try again, but the information I've found is sendind the "ERROR IN TEMPLATE" as collection, not much more. Well, yes, "User function expecting five parameters and getting 7". And my custom columns have the proper number of parameters, so I don't know where those two parametrs are being added.

It would help if you posted the debug log and the metadata.db file and the collections template you are using so I can try to reproduce.

@Terisa de morgan: Have you set the "plugin tweak" "show_stack_traces_in_formatter = False"? There are no exceptions in the log, which is strange.

Not that I’m aware, I’ll check tomorrow (I think it’s the first time I read about that tweak)

If you give us a zip of your configuration folder then we can check the tweaks, the driver configuration, and any other per-user configuration. In other words, we can run what you run.

I don't have that tweak (I've checked), and, with the device connected, the column#dek gives template error... at some files, not all (I've checked the device view and error is there). I've sent you a link with the configuration folder. Thank you very much, I'm totally baffled by this.

The best people are already investigating. Nevertheless a question from my view: appears the error depending on specific books only?

Only specific books (I've not found the common characteristic) and now, I've seen, only specific readers. I've got a Clara Colour and Clara 2E. Clara 2E gets normal collections, Clara Colour get the error. I'm going to investigate if I have some difference.

I still don't know what happens or why it only happens with an ereader, but if I change the template to this:

, it works, so I'm happy with that.
