Back in the day I did have an S-VHS recorder. I used to use it to record laserdiscs. It worked well and the PQ was pretty good.

So the answer is yes, it’s working for now, but we don’t know for how long.
Thanks for the answer.
So everything may depend, at some point in the future, on the ability (or inability) of a few gifted and dedicated persons to maintain the de-DRMing (or, to be precise, de-KFXing, although de-DRMing from other sources than Amazon may also become an issue) Calibre plug-in, that has already survived at least one Kindle for PC upgrade.
Being willing to trust individual resilience and cleverness more than BigTech's greed and associated tyranny or the lawmakers' readiness to follow the large publishing and retail firms' whims rather than what the people want (or, unfortunately, in most cases, don't bother about because they're already too lobotomized to understand what's being done to them as long as they can connect their brains to some "authorized" source of data - goes for streaming movies too... -), I remain hopeful...

That could never have benefited mankind. It would only have benefited companies that want total control.

Ripping DVD or Blu-Ray is very easy and the software is also very easy to get.

Ripping 4K Blu-Ray is harder as you need a a drive that has a patched firmware available. However, you can use a Blu-Ray player to read the 4K discs. You don't need an expensive 4K Blu-Ray player.

Download and Transfer is still available as of me typing this at 09:50am in the UK. I'm guessing it'll be stopped sometime later today.

This is the end of my purchases in the Amazon Kindle bookstore. I have an 11th gen Paperwhite, but the last time I enabled wifi, Amazon deleted all my books, except those I had bought from them. So enabling wifi is not an option. Fortunately I have everything backed up in my calibre library.

Tbh, I can't be bothered to check. What does it matter? An hour here or an hour there... unless you're planning to buy a Kindle book specifically today.

Personally I'm not planning to buy any Amazon books in the near future. I expect I'll check still available methods when I do want to buy from them. No idea when that will be.

Well after being disconnected 3 times I managed to get Amazons customer services email address so I will be making an official complaint about the removal of download and transfer.

Interestingly the last lady on the chat was very helpful, she just gave me the email address no trying to avoid the issue, but when I said why I wanted to make a complaint she apologised and said that the technical team was trying to resolve the issue - now did she misunderstand what I was complaining about or is maybe Amazon going to backtrack from this decision?
