"fastboot" is a protocol.
It is implemented in the abl (Android boot loader).
It is also nowadays implemented in the fastbootd service in recovery mode.
Their capabilities may be different.

Yes, we have a Firehose loader for Go103
It's basically the same procedure as anything here.

I just tried this today with firmware 4.0.2 (lost root after firmware upgrade), and had to use edl to write the patched image to the device - neither 'fastboot boot' nor 'fastboot flash' worked, both failed with 'unknown command'.

The command I used on linux:

Yes, fastboot has been dumbed down recently.
It's a good thing that we have another avenue out.
