Kindle pages from Amazon are based on some print version. So there's no way Count Pages can know how to calculate the page count to match.

What you can do is set count pages to use Paragraphs (APNX accurate) and set the page number column to that number and use it to generate page numbers for the Kindle. You would have to go to Preferences > Plugins. Search for the relevant Kindle driver for your Kindle and set the page numbers to accurate and set the column to use.

Custom column not shown

Hi, I installed your plug-in and aleready created a custom column ("pages").

But am unable to configure the plug-in correctly so that it points to that custom column: the dropdown in the config window remains empty.

Make sure the column type is set to Integers.

And if it's not an integer, you'll have to remove the column, restart calibre, then recreate the column typed as an integer and do another restart before configuring the plugin.

I would swear I though this plugin could count pages in CBR and CBZ files. However, when I try it on a CBR book I get this error:

calibre, version 7.22.0
WARNING: Page/word/statistics warnings: Could not analyse some statistics in 1 of 1 books, for reasons shown in details below.

Book_title (No convertible format found)

Both work for me - I created them as ZIP and RAR with WinRAR, renamed them to CBZ and CBR and then added each to an "Empty book".

That basically sounds as if you do not have a program in use that Count Pages can use to open a .cbr file.

That was it! As soon as I went into the Calibre preferences and set the default viewer for CBR and CBZ files, it worked. Thank you!

If I've got two formats of ebook in calibre (epub and azw3), then how can I use Count Pages plugin only on azw3 file?

Thanks!

For me Custom option with "Chars per page" seems to be best.
I set it to 1900 and it shows values very similar to physical books.
And I guess by using this value for every ebook it should be easy to realize how long is individual ebook in compare to other ebooks.

The downside of course is the fact that sometimes it shows one page in two ereader pages. Example: 1,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,7,8 [...]
But IMO it's still better like that than showing unbelievable amount of pages in books. Like: 300+ pages book as 500

//

Btw. Are there any known bugs or reasons to not using custom option?
Would prefer to know it right now than after I change my whole library

No, just preference. I use custom 1200. I think some certain coding or images stored in base64 can throw it off but not a big deal (latter I've not seen very often anyways).

So basically I can enter whatever value I want in the "Pages" box and it will work?
Even w/o plugin?

Hey, I'm quite late to the party I guess
( I love the old style of the forum btw)

One question about the page count plugin:
Is it possible to do the counting based on:
- page size + margins + font/fontsize? ( you'd set these parameters manually before)

I print stuff at A5 with set margins and fontsize and it would be neat to have an accurate page count within Calibre
