Media Transfer Protocol. Very popular with Android devices since you are not directly exposing the file system. Unlike USBMS where FAT32 is popular since you are exposing the entire block level device, MTP allows any file system and translates a Linux ext4 file system to something that Windows understands. Originally invented by Microsoft as an extension of the PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) for their Zune devices. In theory, it protects the file system from unsafe disconnections, allows file security, etc.

your sarcasm is very helpful. I have in fact and the person who responded to me was the first answer I found. So unless you have answers, responding with snark is both unhelpful and rude.

Are you by chance with a Mac computer?
In that case you need to do some extra steps as described here: https://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/20...nnect-via-usb/ |

The mention of MTP is what is confusing to me. I apologize if I'm not understanding. I'm trying to. I thought windows natively used MTP but that's what is tripping me up. I just want to download the books I've bought and jailbreak my kindle so I can download other book file types and put them onto my kindle. |

You generally can't directly unzip to MTP. You need to unzip it somewhere first then copy it over in the file explorer. The device should show up along with the drives in Computer. Double click it and you'll see the actual "disk".

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry if this maybe required its own post but I'm not well versed with forums. So i followed the guide in winterbreak and everything went well. I was able to jailbreak the kindle paperwhite with no problems, but tonight my amazon account was compromised. I got about 10 tries to access my account between 1:10 AM and 1:20 AM, all failed because of the 2FA active. The notification I recieved stated that "someone that knows my password is trying to access my account". The access location was from Minas Gerais, Brasil from a device called "Kindle for iPhone". For reference, i live in Europe. Now, I don't think the author behind winterbreak is responsible, but it is very likely that some of the files downloaded for the jailbreak are compromised in some way, maybe even some backdoor in the source code. Did anyone have the same problem? Is this issue already known? |

I'm sorry to ask this again, but I assumed no one had seen my original post. I'm a little uneasy about jailbreaking my device and just want to be sure I understand everything before I set out. Thanks again for any help you can offer.

Hello, good morning...
I have an Kindle paperwhite 11th gen. I already follow de instructions to jailbreak it, and I could get it.. now I have KUAL installed.. I tried to install KOReader, but without luck.. I went to the KOreader nightly link, and tried both files: koreader-kindle-(....) and koreader-kindlehf-(..) Using the file which hf into name, when I click to run it, doens't nothing.. Using only with kindle in the name, when I click, take some time, open kindle store in blank page and does nothing.. What I'm missing here? which is the right file for my kindle? Thanks! |

Hello guys, I recently got handed over a brand new Kindle Paperwhite, firmware 5.17, the thing comes apparently blocked and cant register. I thought about jailbreaking it and puting the device to good use, but WinterBreak requires a registered device so, my question is, do we have any work-around for this? is there any chance or am I 100% cooked?

If you jailbreak using WinterBreak then you can go ahead and use the default hotfix from kindlemodding.org (the one with filename Update_hotfix_universal.bin)

If you do this correctly then you should get some options to start KOReader in KUAL. |
