Off the heels of the earlier sale on Books 1-4, Books 5-8 of The Saxon Tales by Bernard Cornwell are on sale for the same price ($4), from the usual vendors:

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...tion-books-5-8
https://www.amazon.com/Saxon-Tales-C.../dp/B00M719WGS
https://play.google.com/store/books/...d=XiQaBAAAQBAJ

I still haven't read the first four I bought earlier this month, but, in for a penny, in for a pound, as they say.

(Coming soon: a lament in the Reading Vent & Rant Thread or in the Ebook Buying Addicts Support thread that I bought eight of this books before reading even one and decided that I hate them)

I await with bated breath your lamentation of distress, knowing your missive will contain many words of wisdom and advice; and, furthermore, knowing that no one has EVER felt the same way as you.
NOT!

Cross-posted to Comics:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00413QAM4
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/superfolks-1

Superfolks by Robert Mayer is on sale for $2.99:

Quote:
Before there was WATCHMEN, there was SUPERFOLKS....

David Brinkley used to be a hero, the greatest the world had ever seen--until he retired, got married, moved to the suburbs, and packed on a few extra pounds. Now all the heroes are dead or missing, and his beloved New York is on the edge of chaos. It's up to Brinkley to come to the rescue, but he's in the midst of a serious mid-life crisis--his superpowers are failing him.

At long last this classic satire that inspired comic books like Watchmen and Miracleman is back in print. It's a hilarious thriller that digs deep into the American psyche.
I had it on my watchlist after reading a Morrison v. Moore spat about how influential the book was or wasn't on Moore's Marvelman/Miracleman series.

Tired of reading the same old story? You know the one: Man is attacked by a succubus, dies, and is later resurrected as a zombie. Shortly thereafter he becomes President of the United States where he enjoys many affairs (of State). Yes, it's a familiar story, a far-out fantasy to chill the mind, but one quite familiar to readers of horror fiction. Thank god it's only fiction!

Why not break free of these tired tropes and purchase - ON SALE AT KOBO UK - Six Stories, by the great Stefan Zweig, for only £0.99

Or, if you are independently wealthy, you can buy it on Amazon.com for only $10.99

I must warn you that this is literary fiction of the highest order and may cause you to spin round and round (like a record) in utter amazement.*

*Rest in peace, Pete Burns.

If you're not familiar with Zweig, you should first read a few pages to see if his style and writing is to your liking. He was very popular in the '20s and '30s.

I Want What I Want by Geoff Brown is $3 in the US (Amazon, Kobo is still full price)
Quote:
‘I want what I want . . . not what other people think I ought to want.’*What Wendy Ross wants is simple – to live and love openly as a modern, independent woman. The problem is that according to her birth certificate her name is Roy Clark and she is a boy. Mistreated by her father, who is appalled at having such a child, misunderstood by her sister, whose clothes she has stolen, and committed to a mental hospital where she is mistaken for a homosexual, Wendy finally gets her chance to escape when she turns twenty-one and inherits a small legacy. But life isn’t easy for a transwoman in 1960s England, and things get even more complicated when she falls in love with the handsome Frank ...

A groundbreaking novel and a landmark of transgender fiction, Geoff Brown’s classic*I Want What I Want*was originally published in 1966 and was the basis for a 1972 film adaptation written by Gillian Freeman and starring Anne Heywood. This edition, the first in decades, features a new introduction by Prof. Michael Bronski of Harvard University, an award-winning writer of books on LGBT history.

Oddly, my Kobo price match is being rejected because it appears as a discount on Amazon next to the price. "-83% $2.99" First time that happens! I tried explaining the red discount is comparing the ebook price to the print edition MSRP, as it says in the tooltip.

EDIT: It was accepted after some back and forth explaining what the red discount means.

Why would that invalidate the price match? Aren't all sales discounts?

I think there was some misunderstanding by the person handling the request. They clarified it by speaking to someone else.
