I do check it (for covers, always) and make occasional corrections. And I have changed some of the defaults.

Couple tips on this one?

Hi!
So when I ran this it asked for an Amazon oauth. I'm not sure how to find this. Is it somewhere in the Response Header or Request Header Cookie (and if so which parameter?)? Or do I have to ask Amazon for it?

I must be doing something wrong; they just import as tpz, and if I try to open or convert them, Calibre just tells me it can't do anything with that format. I'll take a spin through the tools again and see what I might be able to do. So far only one has been a book I care about, so I just bought it again, downloaded the new version, and returned it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have a vague memory about mid-2024 of getting a .tpz ebook. I think renaming it to .azw1 allowed me to use it with calibre.

As the documentation says, if you don't have an Amazon OAuth, just hit enter.

Hoped an Oauth would fix the problem. The browser launches and closes immediately.
Well, dang I couldn't track down an email or contact for the script writer.
Alright, thank you!

I think this error occurred due to Captcha. There's a manual version of the exact same program: https://github.com/WeLackDiscipline/...nual-login.zip

Code:
raise exception_class(message, screen, stacktrace)
selenium.common.exceptions.NoSuchElementException: Message: no such element: Unable to locate element: {"method":"css selector","selector":"#gw-sign-in-button > span > a"}
(Session info: chrome=133.0.6943.98); For documentation on this error, please visit: https://www.selenium.dev/documentati...ment-exception

I just found this. What will trigger this "you can no longer download your own books" warning?

My account has some kindle keyboard and gen 4 kindles on it. At the moment, I only have two functioning gen 4's, and am looking to get another one or 2 keyboards from ebay.

(I got lucky; these last two gen 4's, while marked as used, look like they were completely untouched. Perfect screens, battery working fine.)

It appears that the warning only shows up after you use D&T multiple times. For everyone else who isn't using D&T frequently, D&T will be removed silently on the 26th.

Some of us also received an email notification of the change. I don’t know what triggered that.

I still find it suspicious that this was announced with only two weeks notice and the termination date coincides with an upcoming product announcement by the Amazon hardware development team.

Isn't there a setting in Preferences in which you can choose what formats Calibre will accept based on your ereader brand? Topaz might not be ticked.

Thanks. I will make note of this!
Does this also happen when importing KFX from K4PC? I can't think of a book I have to test it!

It should not happen since the computer K4PC is running on is likely to have a high resolution colour display.

Just checked and a children's book that is nothing but images was downloaded by K4PC with 1472x1920 24 bit colour images while on a PW4, the images were 1109x1448 and in 8 bit B&W. This did drop the book file size from 32MB to 15MB.

The reMarkable 2 is hardly different to the original remarkable (last time I looked they ran same FW revision) and like a poor clone of a Sony DPT model. Inferior to Kobo Elipsa. They now have a colour model (probably Gallery 3).

Really Kobo is best and for some different features the Pocket book non-Android and the Onyx Boox Android. Neither reMarkable or Bigme or any of the random Chinese makes are worth considering for reading novels.
B&N has been kinda floundering for a while. They went through a bunch of leadership changes in rapid succession. They had like 5 CEOs in 8 years. That really kinda took the wind out of the sails of the Nook, causing them to cede too much ground to Amazon.

Remarkable isn't really meant as an ebook reader, but rather for taking notes. Someone did make a plugin for Remarkable support in Calibre though.

I went in and added the waits, and eventually got it. Seemed like it went faster than the 30 seconds I set the waits for.

This is if you have Two Factor authentication. If you don't have 2FA setup, try hitting enter to go past it. The other option would be to go into Amazon and setup a 2FA app like Google Authenticator.

Curiously Google's Books & comics on Playbooks/Playstore must be the worst selling platform. Our own experience is similar sales on Apple and Nook and only some free downloads on Google.

An iPad/iPhone user, like Android (and I suppose Fire) can of course use almost any ebook retailer.

I couldn't get Calibre to talk to a reMarkable. I could transfer in/out only by Web Browser. Since it's very like the idea of the Sony DPT (which is not sold as an ereader), the reMarkable is certainly really aimed at a niche market and not readers of novels.
