Fast enough for what? My experience (and I had a reMarkable) is that the company outdoes Apple's late Steve Jobs on reality distortion. I considered the Scribe, though I had an Elipsa at the same time as the reMarkable and looked at the various "colourised" eink and Gallery 3 and bought a Nxtpaper 2.0 based TCL Nxtpaper 11 (10.9", but close to 16:10 aspect). So pleased I bought the larger Nxtpaper 3.0 based Nxtpaper 14 (14.25" and lovely 3:2 Aspect). Both of those and a phone and a second hand Chromebook is less than* the Remarkable Paper Pro (resolution 1872x1404, the 8" Kobo Sage is 1920 x 1440). It's not good enough for art or photography. I'd sooner buy another 8" Sage at €300 (free shipping) as a spare. I find it best (though only with front light off) for reflowable ebooks and small PDF instruction manuals. I've had/have various ereaders from 4.7" to 10.3" from Sony, Nook, Kobo, Kindle, Binatone (more use than a reMarkable as an ereader), iRiver as well as the reMarkable, which has eink, but is not a useful ereader (Native PDF, no meta data library interface, only Networking via USB or Wifi, so no Calibre). Onyx Boox and Pocketbook are able to complete with Kobo and Kindle in the eReader market. Neither reMarkable, nor Bigme are viable ereader competitors. Jobs listing includes Salesforce Product Manager so kinda looks like they want to integrate with that, i.e. enterprise market. And a Go Developer (popular for web service development). I suspect they are not making profit but trying to find a niche that would make them so. I think RM 2 is over 4 years old and the RM Paper Pro came out a few months ago. It is not Kaleido, but rather eInk Gallery 3. Last edited by tomsem; 02-16-2025 at 02:17 PM. |

You can try setting the first browser wait to 30 seconds to give you time to enter the captcha. I had that happen when I tried the script on Windows. Even then, it took several tries before the login happened. When I tried it on an OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux virtual machine, it did not ask for the captcha.

Amazon delivers different variants of KFX format to different platforms. Image quality is the primary difference. E-ink Kindles (other than Colorsoft) are the worst case, receiving low resolution, highly compressed, grayscale images.

Thanks for this thread. I would have missed this. I have less than 300 Kindle books and probably only half of them that I care about, so I'll have time to download those before the the cut-off date. (I've already done three pages of the eleven.) I probably have most of these downloaded already, but I'll use this as a backup of the backup.

For fun I have been working through a math book that was in Topaz and replacing SVG with MathML (as I fix typos). Some OCD part of me seems to love doing stuff like that. Last edited by tomsem; 02-16-2025 at 03:55 PM. |

The topaz files can import as at least 2 different formats. htmlz which you can convert and mess with. and azw1 which, as far as I can tell so far, you can't do anything with. so I have them in Calibre to represent them in my library, but the azw1 files can't be opened or converted. so I have them but the azw1 files are useless pretty much.
