Well, I've tried the betas and they were very good. This RC1 is even better. Runs smoothly on the machine I have it on (AMD X2 with 2gb ram). The themes are much improved -- my favourite, the Architecture one, is gorgeous. Overall I'd say it's everythign Vista should have been, and wasn't. At the moment I'm preffering it to OS X (which is saying something).

I think they have a winner with this one

Indeed that is high praise. OS X is quite reliable.

I've actually found that since Leopard, OS X has been a bit flaky. Although it could just be the setup I have, but I've noticed way too many spinning beach balls of late with my OSX installation. At the moment my preferences are running this way Win 7 > Ubuntu > OS X

My feet got swollen and they got squished in my boots. Now I have a nice basketweave pattern on them (from my socks).

But right now, I"m sitting in my chair, freshly showered to get all the "cooties" off.....again, enjoying a blessedly childless quiet house.
What desertgrandma says.

As a supply (substitute) early years educator, I work in a variety of different nurseries -- in school nurseries in upper middle class areas to full day nurseries in areas of deprivation. And while there are stark difference between the needs of children in these areas, what is the same, is that they do respond well to an adult who is willing to spend time chatting and playing.

One of my worries is that children do not seem to engage in as much imaginative / pretend play as they did 10 years ago. I worry too, that at home parents don't have the time to get down on the floor and play 'shops', 'house' or 'superman'. I wonder how much time children spend in front of the tv, computer or in the car going to organised activities?

My little brother (6yrs as of today) spends more time in front of the TV then we did when we were his age - but he he has whatever imagination is needed
He really loves masquerading as s/o else, and plays for hours with Lego/Duplo/cars/a wooden fortress and knights we've built for him.
Maybe children just need s/o to regularly play with them to discover how nice it can be
