Calibre test email failed

I am unable to send eBooks via email for some reason. It used to work before but no longer does.

smtplib.SMTPAuthenticationError: (535, b'Authentication credentials invalid')

It would help if you could include more info; especially what mail provider you are using.

Possibly run calibre in debug mode and post the log that is created.

Hi Peter, thanks for your help. I was previously using hotmail/outlook as the provider and now GMX.

I ran calibre in debug, tried the test and it failed again.

Your username/password are incorrect. Remember to use your FULL gmx email address as the username

Hi kovidgoyal, my username and password are correct but I'm now locked out of my gmx account due to suspicious activity.

I can go back to my hotmail account but the issue still persists

hotmail broke SMTP a while back. It wont work anymore. Create another GMX account I guess. Or use your ISP's SMTP service if it provides one.

Also in your GMX account, in Settings => POP3 & IMAP, under the Read your GMX e-mails via POP3 & IMAP header, did you check the box beside Enable access to this account via POP3 and IMAP?
