Unjailbreak Completely Kindle PW5
I recently jailbroken my Kindle PW5 successfully.
Everything was working fine, I installed the hotfix and cancelled all updates, I installed koreader and was very happy. But today I accidentally chose a factory reset instead of rebooting the device and I didn't realize it right away. As a result, all the jailbreak files were deleted from the root folders of my Kindle. I was upset, but decided to just jailbreak again. But nothing worked, Winter jailbreak simply did not install, when I went to the Kindle store, the standard Amazon store really opened for me, and not the Mesquito store. I tried to figure out what the reason was and noticed that in the settings of my Kindle there is still an option KFT, which appeared there after the jailbreak. So the jailbreak was not completely removed from my Kindle after the reset. But at the same time, it does not work as before. I can not install hotfix, but kual seems to be working. Koreader isn't working. I also can't figure out how to completely remove the jailbreak from my device. What I need now is help on how to remove all the jailbreak files from the kindle and return it to the original OS. How do I remove all the jailbreak files from the kindle if there is nothing in the root folders when I connect it to the computer? SSH didn't work too. |

Download and install the same firmware version that's already installed. From here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...MQC26VQQMM8XSW When you copy the firmware files DON'T eject Kindle from your computer, instead press and hold the power button for 15+ seconds to force a reboot. That should then trigger a firmware install. That should restore OTA binaries so that you then can use "Update Your Kindle" again and then try to install the hotfix. Or maybe eve better if you first check is ";log mrpi" command functional or not. If it's working then you just copy MRPI files into "extensions" folder (since factory reset removed them) and the hotfix bin you copy into "mrpackages" folder and then trigger hotfix install by using ";log mrpi" searchbar command (instead of using "Update Your Kindle" which is unavailable because you renamed the OTA binaries). If ;log mrpi is also broken then do the first option I mentioned (firmware (re)install + hotfix install via Update Your Kindle option). Last edited by shamanNS; 01-14-2025 at 07:12 AM. |

Thank you very much, it worked! As you said, I reinstalled the original firmware and successfully jailbroke my Kindle again.

@allesssas I'm not psychic to know what you were trying to do or what mistakes you made while doing that.

You are right im sorry, let me add some more context.
i installed the jailbreak fine on my 8th gen kindle and followed the normal procedure and post installation steps, today KUAL stopped working, so i wanted to reset. now, i couldnt use KUAL to enable OTA updates again so i used a scriplet file. it said it was enabled and the status scriptlet said the same thing. now i reset the device. i was able to install the main jailbreak but when trying to install the hotfix it doesnt work. the update button is grayed out and the ;log mrpi doesnt work. at this point i tried to enable the update button by flashing the firmware but to no luck. as soon as i open the update menu the update button goes gray and im not able to install the hotfix and to use ;log functionality |
