Author display

Hi!
I was given a Calibre library containing thousands of authors. When I open Calibre, the authors are displayed: ln,fn. There is no space after the comma and I would like one (ln, fn).
How can I do this? Thanks.

I believe the Quality check plugin: Fix might do it (I know it will format Initials)
(you need to configure for how you want it. The same config, is what the Check will use to find those not complying)

Out of a perhaps morbid curiosity, are all the books in that calibre library public domain and/or not copyright?

That is not a useful question.

FWIW, I have over 1500 authors in my calibre library, and all the books in it are bought or free or public domain.

Not really relevant.

Personally I have a column that indicates if PD or whatever and only copy the PD ones for others. That's about 90% of the titles.

I documented the authors (in {alt_Authors}, along with setting up grouped searches) all the authors in Anthologies and Boxed Sets. My count is 4137 And I have missed a few along the way because the list was not available (as text) or I have not broken what was in the book (dissect the copyright list. a slightly tedious task)

It's a very useful and relevant question. When I see some eBooks that have LN, FN, there is always a space. These are legit eBooks. Mostly Amazon ones.

I think the comment was about the Quantity.

Yes the question is how to batch fix LN,FN. But if the eBook are not legit, then there's no helping.

This is trivial to do in Bulk metadata edit / Search and replace. Replace the comma with comma-space.

EDIT: One can get better results by replacing comma-notSpace with comma-space, using a regular expression.

If the OP had said, they had a calibre library containing thousands of authors, I would have had no issue. What I noted was that they were given a calibre library.

A quick glance at my calibre library says that I have over 4500 authors and they are all purchased, freebies, PD or dummy books as placeholders for loans.

Giving a copy of either of our libraries to someone else would be a massive violation of copyright.

A library of academic papers could very well have more authors than papers. Here's a single paper with 40 authors.

Looks like some of anthologies I have with over 25 authors. The main reason that I truncate the author/author sort when sending to my Kobo.

I have a search & replace to put 'various authors' at the beginning, then I sublist it.
