KOA 2019 here, I've gotten a little further than some people here in following the guide

I am able jailbreak successfully (given the text on screen after running the initial file, but I cannot see / find the "Run Hotfix" book after copying it to the device and running update from settings ..

I checked in my library and it isn't there, and when I open the store I see the same Mesquito / Winterbreak splashscreen.

I'm planning to switch from my Nova 3 to the new Kindle Scribe. I have some CBZ files, and if I can avoid file conversions, that would be great

Has anyone managed to jailbreak the 2024 Scribe? I saw a post from someone who couldn't do it, which makes me a bit hesitant.

Having successfully installed the Winterbreak JB, the correct Hotfix, and KUAL on my PW5, I then successfully installed the latest KOReader from Marek's nightlies list (today's version, Jan 8). However, when I click to open KOReader in KUAL my PW5 completely freezes with opening KOReader at the bottom of the screen. I don't know why this is, as I opened it successfully the first time after installation. I'll wait for Jan 11, when the more stable version is set for release according to Marek earlier in this thread.

1. factory reset and insert the winterbreak files BEFORE registering my kindle ((multiple times.)
2. replace the .active_content_sandbox after factory reset, and (another FR) after opening the store then rebooting my kindle
3. airplane mode is turned on before opening the store

Hi! So I did exactly what you did and it changed to being able to load the winterbreak but then it is an error. So it is just one step away from clicking the winterbreak icon when you load the store. I did turn airplane mode back on and had my kindle off for a moment when it randomly started restarting and then it is back to the same old regular store. I am trying to see what else I can do, but I am used to jailbreaking easier things (guided, such as my old 3ds lol). Ill let you know if I figure anything else out.

Reporting success on Kindle Scribe 64GB 2022 (model “23M”).
1) Starting FW was 5.16.9 (hf, with MTP).
2) For cleanliness, did factory reset.
3) Freshly setup, chose language English, United States, logged in to my Amazon account.
4) It tried to download a firmware update but failed (probably because I was on eduroam). I downloaded the 5.17.2 FW myself and transferred to Scribe. Then restarted it through long-press of power button.
5) WinterBreak 1.4.1 install: flawless.
6) Hotfix install (1.10.0): flawless.

I don’t have time yet to install everything else, but I will report back in any case

"send the generated index.html in your .active_control_sandbox" ... send to where? send from where? or is that a translation error, and they're asking me to delete or do something else? FYI regarding my working WinterBreak on Kindle PW5 (11th FW 5.17.1) with KOReader.

1. Followed https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking
2. Installed https://build.koreader.rocks/downloa...2025-01-07.zip
3. Modified the "Update Channel" to "Development", then updated KOReader successfully.
