Today. Just an hour ago. And I followed strictly the procedure.

For a moment the screen turns black, and it says "Aktualisieren" (upgrade), but then it starts normally back to the 5.0x firmware.

That is odd, did you switch to kobo before applying my update file? It should definitely work (Tested on Clara BW and my Libra Colour)

Switched to kobo, factory resetted and then sideloaded the update.tar

I just checked again, the file is working.
If you have already switched to kobo, do a hard reset and try again.

I think I know what the problem is. Probably your recovery is still ver. 4.xx and mine was from the start 5.0.x

Recovery gets replaced on update to 5.x mines 5.x too

It finally worked! For some reason, the downloaded tar file was crippled. So i had to switch to Linux to get the right file. Thanks a lot!

I've looked into this, apparently Calibre and Sigil use Qtwebengine and Thorium is also chromium based. Guess that explains why this features is so widely supported in desktop apps.
Apple Books can do this as well, but only with '-webkit-initial-letter'.

Yesterday I've updated to 5.6.209326. It seems your devmode fix no longer works with this version –*I hope they haven't removed devmode for good..

That does work fine. Thank you so much!

I've tested 5.6.209326 and it does have a nice improvement. Highlighting text in the default renderer is much easier now. And I haven't managed to make the device crash by using the dictionary yet – I think*they might have fixed that (though only in the default renderer)

Sadly, the update brings a new problem as well. Font weight adjustment is now broken in RMSDK as well as the default renderer. They will return to the publisher font after using the font weight slider.

Yeah, I'm reading an Overdrive book at the moment and the highlighting is super janky, I wish they'd fix that.
