Open the dishwasher to let everything cool down and your glasses get blasted by the steam so you cannot see until your glasses clear.

We've maybe found a cleaner to come in once a week for two hours. But the start hasn't been smooth. She was supposed to start (and introduce herself) last Wednesday, but her kid was sick. Which, no problem, can happen. So I did the cleaning last week, as usual.
Then she was supposed to come today; introduce ourselves and clean. But she called just now; she had forgotten she had a doctor's appointment. Sigh. So now she is coming over so we can get to know each other, but she won't have time to clean. But next week she'll stay an hour longer. So I'm cleaning again tomorrow (I clean the toilets, sinks and mirrors and vacuum and dust weekly and every other week I deep clean the kitchen, my sister takes care of the bathroom). A first world problem, I know. But annoying nonetheless. |

Fortunately I live in 15 m² so the cleaning should be a light task. In fact, with low standards it's even lighter.

Currently it takes me 2-3 hours a week to clean the common areas and my floor and every two weeks the kitchen. It's nice I don't have to worry about that anymore. |

Fortuitous timing
Yesterday I'd been poaching some chicken thighs to use for meals this week. My friend Bob asked what the difference was in poaching and sous vide, so of course that threw us off in our usual rabbit hole of googling / thinking about it. I decided to look for library books and found the America' Test Kitchen book and read out various recipes / extracts from it which piqued his interest. He of course was researching different reviews of sous vide cookers and mentioned a few brands he was interested in. Have I mentioned it's his birthday tomorrow??? I just thought I'd check local stores and saw that the Canadian Tire close to us had one left of a brand he liked at a price lower than Amazon! I ordered it for in store pickup today along with a copy of the ATK book from Amazon. TADA.. Birthday taken care of Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

Sous vide machines are quite useful, and for things you might not have thought of. (Polenta, for example, that tastes like you spent 90 minutes stirring it in a double boiler.) And the prices and features have both improved.

Ugh. Stairs
Was at a friend's house yesterday for their annual cookie making day. Has just arrived and had carried my jacket to the main room when I decided I should leave it by the back door. There was a railing there so thought I would take a step along it and deposit my coat. UNFORTUNATELY I had a brain fart and was on the stairs side, not the landing side... Next thing I know I'm at the bottom of the stairs, aching. Sigh. Nothing broken just sore right shoulder and back. I spent the rest of the day sitting in the corner. Had a rough night last night; finally managed to struggle out of bed. Now for time with a heating pad or two. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

Groan. That doesn't sound like any fun at all.
I merely slept wrong, night before last. Woke up with a shoulder-blade cramps, and also had to pull out a heating pad or two. Old age ain't for sissies, as they say. |
