Silent notifications option?

Since I installed Calibre 7.22, whenever there is a message about a completed action (like e.g. book conversion, of from the Count-Pages plug-in 1.13.6 by Grant Drake), I get a rather intrusive "PLING!" message on the right bottom of the Calibre window. In previous versions there were also messages, but they were silent and IIRC integrated in the main window and took less than 5 or 6 seconds to disappear. In any case they were far less annoying.
Is there a way to go back to old (pre-7.22) behaviour or to get rid of messages altogether? I searched the Calibre and the plug-in options, but can't find anything.
TIA.

UPDATE: I found that I can right click a message and then tell Windows to always reject all messages from Calibre-main (com.calibre-ebook.main-gui). I guess this is old pre-7.22 behaviour?

In the notification, click the ... and you will be taken to the Windows setting so you can turn it off.

IMO it is better to disable them in Windows, same as every other app:

Hasn't been necessary until this calibre update which re-enabled them. Let's hope that that's a one-off. Perhaps Kovid can explain it.

Also, I just noticed that the update removed the pinned icon from my start menu. It's been persistent through all the previous updates.

That is not a CALIBRE caused issue then.
Pinning is retained by Windows

and even survives a Uninstall of Calibre (I was doing a roll back to 7.16 due to graphics card issues) as long as you don't reboot before the reinstall.

It was already explained in the What's New section. As long as you handled it in Windows as you have for every other app installed then it will be a one-off.

More likely you had it enabled already. Before this update, it had no effect unless you had the system tray enabled.

In my case, it was enabled, but before, that notifications were very small and now they are ginormous.

The pop-up is controlled by the OS, not calibre. For my Windows 11 machine, it seemed huge, but was the same size as other notifications which came through the OS. I turned it off in Windows vice calibre.

I know that, but knowing it doesn't make it smaller.
