Last night I finally got around to watching The Watchers, based on the book by A.M. Shine. I really enjoyed the book and I also enjoyed the movie, very atmospheric.

Moonflower was good but a little confusing. I was disappointed with Van der Valk at first but now through S4 it's not bad. S2 of Ridley is a little slow but OK. Next up will be Wagner Method, a Walter Presents from France.
Keeping fingers crossed for Prime's $1 channel deals for black Friday... |

Watched the old film Kind Hearts and Coronets today.
Think I might try The Ladykillers next. Have fond memories of watching those in the '70s on TV Ontario with Elwy Yost. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

We watched Trap last night. It was okay, but we weren't wild about it. The idea was good, the execution less. It just wanted to do too much for one movie; there were three acts and the first one was the longest. If they've given each act about the same amount of time it might have worked. Also, IMHO, they gave away who was the bad guy too soon; if they kept that a secret longer the first half of the movie would have more suspense.

Thanks for the mention earlier in the thread @pdurrant - I'm very much enjoying Inspector Ellis - Sharon D. Clarke is amazing!

Hmm... Not me! I mentioned Ludwig, and The Chelsea Detective. I can only think that one of them lead you on to Inspector Ellis. Which I haven't watched myself - yet. I'll put it on my list!

I am currently watching Return to Paradise. This is made and set in Australia, but using the (very slightly changed) main plot of Death in Paradise. Fun cosy murder mysteries.

Another brain cell gone it seems ... well someone mentioned it - and it is worth watching. British police/detective shows are tops in creating and casting "odd couple" pairings in partners.

Just finished watching The 4400 (2004). Seen it before, many years ago, but still enjoyed it.
Then tried watching the remake of it from 2021 but stopped watching by the middle of the second episode. It was bad. IMDB rating of 3.9 Now started on Halo (2022) which I am enjoying. |

I finished Teacup over the weekend. I really enjoyed it, though that's no surprise since it was based on a book by Robert R. McCammon (which I will have to put on my TBR list now). No news yet if it's getting a second season, I hope so because of the open ending.
We're now watching Sweetpea, with Ella Purnell. I'm not sure what to think of it. I think you should feel sympathy for the main character, but I just don't. But we're half way through, just three more episodes, and my sister seems to enjoy it. So we'll finish it. |

Just finished season 2 of The Diplomat on Netflix - it took time to grow on me - but it has the greatest cliff-hanger episode since Gypsy (hope Netflix doesn't drop it as they did Gypsy)
The writing is superb, as are the actors. |

What a brilliant show. I find it difficult to understand why it was cancelled, with such high ratings. Some sites claim it was the cost, coming in at close to $400,000,000 for two season. Wow!!
But the show has a great storyline, really likeable actors (have just become a big fan of Pablo Schreiber), and there was no woke BS! in the show at all. What a relief. I highly recommend it. Now started watching Almost Human with Karl Urban |
