It used to come in plastic fishies that bobbed around in the pool, releasing the magic chemical. I guess they changed shapes so that people as less tempted to squirt them at their husbands. It doesn't work as well as a solar cover, but it's better than nothing and your pool will heat up faster.

I've tried those chemical blankets. They play merry hell with the skimmer and filter. If we're desperate to get in the pool earlier, we fire up the heater, which wastes both water and energy, so we don't do it much.

Oh, I know the feeling! It's not even reached 20C here this morning (19.4C). I'm even thinking of putting on a long-sleeved t-shirt!

I don't like swimming in pools to begin with, because of the chlorine, but I'd be even more hesitant to get into one with some unknown chemical coating the surface....

Today it was overcast, about 20c, and muggy. Kind of bleah.
