[GUI Plugin] Quality Check

I have some epubs with covers which are just images without any text, like title/author. So they don't add anything to the book plus on my reader I can't see what is what. Spot checking a few books finds that the first image found in the epub was used for cover.

Can cover.jpg and the corresponding cover.xhtml file be programmatically deleted with the Quality Check plugin with cli so it could be run in a bat file in batch mode?

The text is part of the Cover(.jpg) image.
So, at that point in time it is an Image

Also, The cover.jpg file in Calibre may NOT be the same cover embedded in the book.

I also can't think of any way for the plugin to be able to detect them without a bunch of false positives.

Why not look at your Library in Grid View and Multi select the victims , then Tag those (bulk mode) with the MDE.

I still have no clue on how to prevent a Generic cover being sent to the device once that is done.

Why not just shrink the cover in the group using the resize Cover plugin (set to a small size)!

After downloading a new cover image, it's possible to polish it into the ePub.

Modify ePub is a better choice for adding in a new cover.

It can also be done using 7Zip. Using 7Zip the cover gets deleted by name and I have done it that way. I thought this might be safer as one could check for identical file size and delete if one is called "cover".

My books are not in the Calibre library but rather in folders on my PC. And I do not want to add a new cover, just delete it if it is duplicated.
(Most are NSFW btw so better hide it.)

Not all covers are called cover.jpg. They can have vastly different names. So really, this won't work reliably enough.

May I ask why you are asking in a calibre forum then? And while cover.jpg/cover.jpeg are commonly used for cover images, any image filename can be used as long as it is flagged as such in the opf file so automating the process is going to be prone to removing the incorrect file.

You could create a new library in calibre, import them, modify them and then save to disk and then delete the library. Though if this is a work PC, IT will likely take notice of such actions.

Agreed, but typically books from one source are consistent. The last folder I worked on used cover.jpg and I just used that as an example. I realize I may have to check first and modify as required.

I asked because while I have used 7zip years and years ago I wanted to use a hopefully easier way. Now I have to find the bat file, get reacquainted with the syntax etc. etc.

My intention was to use the cli interface, always assuming of course cli is available, and then use it in a bat file.

I quite often end up with a title that has multiple authors. i,e Charles Dickens & Todd, David is there an easy way of using Quality Check to just swap the author that has the comma rather than popping up the author editor?

I took a look at my library and found a variety of cover images. They came in .png, .jpg, .jpeg and two lonely .bmp files. The cover file name was cover for about 95% of the files but coverpage, bookname, etc. were among that other names found.

Hello everyone, weird problem with the "quality check" feature. If I search for a string that is longer than the my screen's width the popup window widens to fit it, and a part of it goes off screen. I couldn't find a way to resize it. See image attached.
