And now it gets even better! I found the other lens I'd lost a few weeks back. Seeing I didn't consciously take it out of the eye it makes me think both came out at the same time!

Of course the two lens have minor prescription differences and I can't tell which is newer

Guess the best thing I can do is to wear the newest one that I'll pick up tomorrow or Wednesday and then see if the eye care place I go to have any way to measure prescriptions of lenses.

Seriously. Though I already felt that way. If I didn't need glasses, I'd probably wear them anyway just to keep anything from getting close to my eyes, never mind touching them intentionally. <Shudder>

I still remember the horror story of someone trying to remove their contacts and then only too late realizing they didn't actually have them in.

It's all about the quality of vision. I've worn contacts for >50 years. Mostly original hard or RGP, though I was able to wear a soft lens for maybe 10 years of that time. After cataract surgery, I thought I'd be able to get away without, but the vision in my distance eye just isn't quite good enough -- some unevenness in the surface of the cornea, so an RGP takes care of that completely.

And that points to another reason to do it -- I use one eye for reading, the other for distance. Did it for years with contacts, and the same after my cataract surgery. You simply can't do that with glasses.

Oddly, one of the last pair of glasses I had before I switched to multifocals had my eyes corrected with more difference than my usual prescription for that reason. My left eye is good enough to pass a driving test without correction while my right eye has trouble focusing on anything further away than the tip of my nose. The left eye was corrected for distance while the right eye was corrected for reading (-1.125 compared to -5.75). And yes, I have those glasses where the two lenses are rather different thickness.

Same. I've worn glasses for almost 50 years and plan to continue with them until I die.

I agree about quality of vision. Particularly in keratoconus and other corneal imperfections. Glasses don’t help in those cases. I’ve tried David’s work around on a few of my clients and it did work for most of them. Multifocals didn’t work for me, sadly.

The only real win for contacts is walking in the rain.

I do wear glasses all the time. Even though my eyesight is almost right for computer work I find that the astigmatism correction helps a lot. When my prescription changes I buy three pairs of inexpensive glasses in far, computer and near.

I've worn soft contacts for over 35 years. Never lost one in my eye or had any issues.

Just got my first pair of computer glasses and I love them! No more fighting to find (and hold) that tiny strip of real estate in my regular progressives that allowed me to see most of the screen adequately. Not crazy about changing glasses, but it's better than struggling for the hours I have to work in front of a computer.

Actually, the next on my wish list is some outrageously big "aviator" reading glasses. When I read on the sofa I normally have to slide my normal sized glasses down my nose to correctly frame my e.reader

I've thought of this fairly often myself, as well. Just some huge, face-dwarfing glasses that didn't require any adjusting, or moving of the head.
