Best Clock While Reading Option for Libra Color

Hi all! I am in the process of switching over to Kobo from Kindle. I finally got sick of giving Jeff Bezos money...

My Libra Color is scheduled to arrive Tuesday, and in preparation I am trying to get as much ready ahead of time.

I under stand that the Kobo doesn't natively show the clock while reading. Most posts I've here and on Reddit say that Nickelclock is the best option, but is this still the case? I have read about problems with flashing on the newer Kobos, and my Libra Color is one of those.

TIA

Hi nelamvr6,

I would suggest that you try your new kobo after it arrives.
I love my Libra Color, especially for reading non-fiction while I use my Sage for reading fiction.
All Kobos will show the clock with just a touch to the screen. Another touch gets you back where you were.
So, if it is only a permanent clock you want, I would say; don't bother with flashing.

Have fun with your new Libra Color and from escaping the claws of Jeff.

From what I have gathered, the NickelClock flashing clock issue only occurs if you highlight/annotate something in color. Returning to the Home Screen then reopening the book stops the flashing until you re-trigger it. See here: https://github.com/shermp/NickelClock/issues/18

Thanks! That's really good news! The flashing won't be an issue for me if that's the only thing that makes it happen, I never highlight anything...

Actually, that may still be a problem for me. I never highlight anything, but it seems that selecting a word to look up in the dictionary also triggers the flashing.

I have NickelClock installed and it used to work, but it’s no longer visible for whatever reason. I haven’t done anything to it’s settings or to the device’s firmware. I’ve seen a Reddit thread that claimed that it’s a known bug and the clock only works until the device is restarted and you need to re-install NickelClock if you want it back. I cba.

I believe that in light of all that I've read I'm going to wait for Kobo to update their firmware to include a clock while reading. Thanks to all for their help!

If you tap the center of the screen, you will see a clock in the upper left hand corner. Tap a second time to dismiss.

Not that it's relevant... I certainly don't want clock or charge showing all the time, but I stuck it on the main menu of my custom reader (err, not for Kobo). Since my BT clicker has Menu, two quick clicks lets me see the time.
