Arrow autoKOllection • koreader collection generator

autoKOllection • koreader collection generator
A KUAL extension designed to automatically generate collections for KOReader (works with 2024.07 - maybe below, idk)

**Warning**
This tool will delete all custom collections (except favorites). Each time a new collection is generated, a backup will be created and the previous backup will be overwritten. To manually create a backup, save the file collection.lua file located at /mnt/us/koreader/settings/.

You can add a group of files to a collection from KOReader file browser.
You can select all files in a folder with just a couple of taps there.

Besides, we can consider adding a button to the collection dialog: "Add a folder to collection" (in addition to the currently existing "Add a file").

How are the collections created? What data is used?

AFAIU, this plugin takes folder structure and folder content to make collections.

That'd be awesome.

This.

The only file affected by this script is /mnt/us/koreader/settings/collection.lua. KOReader's own backup is collection.lua.old (scripts backup is collection.lua.bkp)

I am not able to edit the thread to update the .zip, but made few changes to the extension:
- edited the menu (KUAL will no longer exit when collection gets generated)
- added function/menu to restore the backup

Have you considered making this available in a public git repository?

It might be helpful to people getting started with KUAL extension development.

After a few weeks of using the Kindle, I've come to the conclusion that I much prefer physical books and will be gifting mine away this Christmas. For me, it’s enough to carry one book at a time, and the tactile experience of paper just feels better. I’ve also noticed that I forget what I read much faster on an e-ink display compared to a physical book

Anyone is welcome to take my code, modify it, publish it under their own name, bake it in the oven and fold it into origami
