Question (reposting from another thread) - Question I am not sure if I have to install KoboPa

I have a Kobo Libra Color 2 device. I am not programmer nor I know or understand coding at advanced level.

I have the following mods installed on my KLC2 device:

NickelClock
NickelDBus
NickelMenu
KFmon
KOReader

I read about the KoboPatch and I decided to install this.

Upon after referring to the following URLs:

https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch-patches
https://github.com/folkemat/KoboPatchFan
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=356106

I proceeded to download and install the KoboPatchFan desktop application on my windows desktop.

After running the application, the application generated this message:

Found no patch for firmware 4.39.23027

After checking the current firmware/software version installed on my KLC2 device, i found that it has the following version installed:

4.40.23081 (8cd8ab046d, 8/19/24)

So the latest available patch from pgaskin's Github (https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...leases/tag/v84) is 4.38.21908

Does that mean I cannot install this current latest patch for 4.38.21908 for my KLC2 at the moment ??

Please can someone help to clarify and guide me on exactly what to do to install KoboPatch to my KLC2 device

Thank you

Go to the following thread.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=362040

Go to post #150. Download the patches for 4.38.23038. Create a directory for the patches and unzip into that directory. Edit the file kobopatch.yaml for your firmware version. Put a yes next to all the patches you want to apply. Download your firmware from https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html

Not all the patches will apply. When the patcher fails to finish, look in the out directory and have a look at the file log.txt. See which patch fails to run. Make a note of it. Then in kobopatch.yaml, change yes to no. Keep doing this until the patches run. You can copy the file KoboRoot.tgz (in the out directory) to .kobo on your Kobo and apply the patches that do work.

Then post in thread I linked which patches fail to apply to the firmware you are running. Someone may be able to help get some working. If anyone does help get some working, you can redo the patches.

Question

Hi JSWolf,

Thank you for your reply. Apologizes for the delay in responding to your post.

I read your post and I am visualizing the steps....but I still feel its a bit risky for me to do it cause I dont know coding or programming and I feel wary to risk spoiling my Kobo reader.

I tried searching for a Youtube video of anyone explaining and demonstrating the steps on their channel and I could not find one.

Do you know if there is one video on YouTube or anywhere that shows all the steps and the end result and how to perform future successive patches ?

That would help me to better understand this.

Thank you,
