Seems to be the case for all of Europe actually; listings for the Colorsoft on Amazon Germany, France and Italy all report that it is “usually dispatched within 3 to 6 months”.

Tell me about it; I was considering buying an Oasis over the last few months, it would show up in a search, and then be all, "Sorry can't ship to a usa address." Then why are you making it available on the usa site?!?!?

They had refurb ones this week, but in my opinion, it's way too expensive for a used device that's around 5 years old, and who knows when they'll stop pushing out updates.
My original Oasis has all kinds of screwball battery issues, and I already replaced the battery myself. I think it's a weird software or device problem, where it can't properly understand what's going on with the battery capacity. |

I would have spoken to a CS rep and asked why.

A refub from Amazon (not a 3rd party) should have a new battery.

The issue is this....the cover battery works fine and behaves as expected. The Kindle battery, if you are reading without the cover, drops sharply every time you turn on the wifi, or if you leave it in sleep mode for a while (sometimes 20%, sometimes it will say it's completely drained). And once it does this, as soon as you start charging it again, the battery rapidly charges (because...it isn't REALLY discharged). And if it's plugged into the cover when you are done, 50% of the time it never goes into "deep" sleep mode, so then it constantly drains the cover's battery. I've tried to recalibrate the battery: nothing. If you read with the cover attached, it all behaves better. The only issue being, as I stated above, if you leave it on the cover when done, it may not go into deep sleep mode, and then continue to drain the cover's battery. My conclusion after all this? My original battery was probably fine...it's the Kindle itself that's screwball. So now I tend to just ignore what the heck the Kindle battery level is, because it's not reliable. |

So to bring this back around to the Colorsoft: I like the device, but due to the problems with the screen (what this thread is about!), and after I've used the Paperwhite "shape"...I like the Oasis "experience" better.
Once my Oasis 1st gen started to go downhill, I kept thinking of upgrading to the 3rd gen, but at that point it was too old for me to pull the trigger. So I kept waiting, expecting they'd release a new gen, but nope...Scribe! And then, discontinued. So at least the Colorsoft is different enough via the color and different look to the screen that yep, I'll keep it. But a regular Paperwhite? Nope; the Oasis is a better device for me.
