Kindle Firmware 5.17.1 imminent - Page 5

But not quite 11th generation. I suspect that Amazon will label it's firmware as 11th Gen 2024 to distinguish it from the 11th Gen Kindle Basic's firmware.

Anyone have any weird issues with the new Oasis firmware and sideloading?

Could be a coincidence but I manually updated last week, and also while hooked up decided to sideload some books. Some of those books when I tried to open last night are saying these books cannot be opened with a "registered/licensed to another user message."

I just tried it with a Gutenberg book, and had no problem. I'm on the latest firmware on an Oasis 3, and used Calibre to transfer.

Maybe it's just a weird glitch then with these particular books. These were Amazon purchases on my end.

For Oasis 3, the 5.17.1 has been removed from Amazon software page, along with the Kindle 11th Generation and Scribe, they are now 5.16.21 again

I don’t think the Scribe ever had 5.17.1 available. I thought an update was coming in early December.

Why might they do that? It cleared up a lot of problems on my Oasis.

For Scribe I may be wrong then, but it and Paperwhite with Oasis 3 are now showing the 5.16 - I don't have a Scribe so not positive on that one.

I had a weird glitch with mine last night trying to open some books but have not used it much since the update really.

Sorry to disagree but the Scribe is supposed to get 5.17.1 in a while and the Kindle 11th gen 2024 does show 5.16.21, however all the other 10th/11th generation models show 5.17.1 as the current downloadable firmware revision. Amazon.com and Amazon.ca both show the same firmware revisions/devices so I only attached one image.

What / which are you disagreeing with?

I know that's what it shows now. Before the Oasis 3 was 5.17 and have now had that firmware removed. I can't swear on the Scribe, I don't own that device so am unsure.

When I visited Amazon.com and Amazon.ca's firmware download pages, the Scribe and the Kindle 11th gen 2024 showed firmware 5.16.21 while all other 10th and 11th gen devices which includes the Oasis 10th gen AKA Oasis 3 show the available firmware version as 5.17.1.

I included a screen capture of the download page from Amazon.com showing this. So I am saying the Oasis 3 still gets 5.17.1 (which downloaded when I clicked on the link). I deleted that download but re-downloaded it and attached a screenshot of what the file looks like in my Downloads directory. So I can state with a very high level of confidence that the Oasis 3 firmware update is still 5.17.1. I've also attached a screenshot of the Amazon download page zoomed out to show more versions and the Oasis 3/10th gen circled.

That's odd, could have sworn it was 5.16 earlier when I clicked on it. I see what you mean, now Oasis current gen is reading 5.17 again.

I changed the firmware version in the link and 5.17.1 is gone for the PW6.
