Calibre seems to be updating itself all the time.
I have nothing against the software being updated, far from it. I like new features, but I want to upgrade as and when I choose. I cannot locate any setting to disable auto updates. Each time an update occurs it creates its default Start folder locations etc. Whereas I use my own location. So it is annoying to update this often. Can anyone point me to the setting I can change to prevent updates? I have read that there is a notification that occurs, however i have never seen this. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you |

Calibre does not have auto-update. It notifies you upon update.

When you run the Windows install, there's an Advanced Button that activates once the 'I accept the terms in the License Agreement" is checked. In Advanced (second dialogue box) there's an option to suppress the creation of Start menu shortcuts - if set it will persist across future installs. BR |

Did you get it from the calibre website or somewhere else?

Use Chocolatey and install the packages Chocolatey GUI and Calibre.
From the Chocolatey GUI, you can quickly list the packages installed, those with an update available, and install the update of all these in 1 click. Note that it generally takes 24 hours for the new version of Calibre to be available in Chocolatey (package is managed by a third-party user, not by the Calibre developer, not a problem just that take a little time). |

I hope I'm in the right forum. I run Windows 7 and the latest version of Calibre is not compatible. Unfortunately, I keep getting updated to version 7.2 and Calibre no longer functions. Is there a way to prevent version 3.48 from being automatically updated?

Calibre has no auto-update. It simply notifies you about the latest update.

Well if Calibre has no auto-update then please explain how my Calibre was update when I logged in today, from 0.9.38 to 7.2. I haven't even opened Calibre in over a month, maybe more. I was reviewing recently installed programs today and to my surprise Calibre was in the list. When I do open Calibre, I get prompted that there is a new version and do I want to install it. I always say no because if it's not broke, I don't need to fix it. I'm in the process of uninstalling v7.2 and reinstalling 0.9.38. I guess I will just have to block the Calibre site to prevent any future updates (via hosts file). I mostly 'read' via audiobooks these days so I don't use Calibre much anymore.

Remember that 7.2 and 7.20 are totally different versions.
Also are you sure about 0.9.38? That version of calibre is from July 2013! Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

I have the same problem.
Using Calibre 5.44, I keep getting updated to version 7.2 or 7.21 or any last version every time I start a new windows session (Windows 10) without anything ask. If I as it is said it's because I install 7.2 at some point without my knowledge then can you tell me how I could get rid of it since every time I desinstall 7.2 and install 5.44? |

Calibre has no auto-update. It simply notifies you about the latest update.
I'm wondering if all these people with the problem have some sort of third-party software doing the updates behind their back. |

A quick google shows Norton Software Updater has Calibre on its list of supported software.
