I still think Pshrynk has a point. Q: What's big and gray and comes in quarts? A: An elephant. Like the first joke it is just a play on words, but way more funny. |

The play on words is on the word "come".

So the sexual spelling of the word is somehow in bad taste? I'm still fascinated by Brian W. Adiss's novel, "The Dark Light Years," about a race of beings that worships its feces. Talk about the crap hitting the fan! That novel caused a stir in '64 or '65. Don Last edited by Dr. Drib; 05-03-2009 at 07:15 AM. Reason: changed past tense to present |

"Stranger in a Strange Land" Very Excellent Book. It's scifi written in a tongue in cheek style with profound philosophical views on culture from a few decades ago. Heinlein peers a the human being with intelligence and analysis and seizes on a reality that transcends fashions, the roots of existence. The story in itself is symplistic but a fantastic basis for an uninterested judgement of humanity. The only failure to me is a certain sexist view that somehow fades when the eyes are from the martian protagonist. I recommend this book even to people who abhore scifi. |

So: Getting back to our topic, please, on what constitutes "bad" taste in humor. We've already encountered some lively discussion and thought-provoking responses. Don |
