Most logical solution to me is...
The whole "you don't own the books you've paid for" scam is getting REALLY old. And it's a constant treadmill month to month of "what crap did amazon pull this month?" This year, I've been buying most books from B&N, Smashwords, and publishers, and borrowing books from Libby/Overdrive. The convenience of buying and storing books in one location is just not worth it. Unfortunately, KU still meets the convenience/cost ratio. Blargh
It seems like if you can afford it, buying a digital copy every now and then for your library will benefit the author, the reading public and public libraries alike. Technology shouldn't be making reading more expensive and less accessible. |

I gave up on books from B&N years ago as they kept making it more difficult to get your hands on book files. If Amazon disables D&T for my older Kindles, I'll be done with them too. I mostly buy my books from Kobo. Very easy to get the books and free them if needed with either DeDRM or Obok.

I think @ownedbycats was referring to logging in on the Kobo site, not on a Kobo ereader. I suspect that @Ma'am-I-Am does not have a Kobo ereader but is interested in purchasing ebooks from Kobo hence the original question.

I bought Kobo ebooks long before I had an actual Kobo ereader.

Does anyone know where the latest version of Kindle for Mac is storing downloads? It's not in the old location...

Yeah, found it. Tried the download, got the zip versions, couldn't install Bluestacks, so returned the books to Amazon. I have zero desire to read ebooks on anything but my Kobo. Unfortunately, only the first book is available on Kobo.

You could get a cheap, used Kindle and register it to your account. Then you could use Download & Transfer to get the files. But it depends on how much you still want to buy from Amazon, of course.

I could if I can find one locally at Cash Converters. But I really can't be bothered as it's rare I can only find something on Amazon and nowhere else. I don't read KU and as others have said I have plenty to read.
