What was being discussed was Adobe DRM but the OBOK plugin that comes in the same zip file as the DeDRM plugin works well for Kobo's proprietary DRM used for the kepub ebooks.

I can't even get the books to download to the Mac anymore, I just get the message that my Kindle for Mac is out of date and I need to download a new version. Same goes for my really old Kindle.

Which Kindle do you have that's not working for downloading eBooks? I can still download with a Kindle Touch. That's as old as I have.

I downloaded some last week actually --- need to go back through my history in case they nix it.
I am not planning on getting a new kindle release from this lineup, but when I went this week to the download and transfer to check something (was in a debate about library, long story) --- I saw my phone and my computer have been removed from download and transfer. I always noticed before because of the weird phone name and would get amused at the old computer name (Of doom) --- they are no longer there and had been for years previously. I can still download and transfer using fires or kindles, just found it weird. Why the computer was on there previously, not sure, unless it was from the old kindle app - same with phone. |

Same for me. I've tried both Kindle for Mac 1.17.1 and 1.40.1. Not able to download any books.

Would updating my Kindle (PWSE 11th gen, v5.16.21) firmware affect the use of Calibre and side loading? With all the issues noted with the new Kindles, I am hesitant to make any changes, but dang, that refresh speed would be nice to get.
https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comm...mment/ltfoly7/ (and fwiw, I was able to D&T a book that was just published yesterday) |

Haven't heard of any of the pre-2024 models losing D&T. Only the 2024 Kindles never having it to begin with.

Anyway my point is : You could have an firmware update with deactivation of D&T when the update is complete. Once the firmware is installed, there's just a little information which has to be sent to Amazon to assure them the update has been made and D&T can be disable for this updated device. There could be a function as well that "if the device has not made the update in a given period of time, then, disable D&T for this device". I could find a couple of way to make the D&T disappear if I had to program this kind of thing. You'll tell me the easiest way would be "Disable for all" but then, all people with a Kindle who cares about D&T would be angry. While it doesn't affect you, you're a bit scared to see it disappear, but you're not full of rage either. |

There is no reason not to update to 15.7.1. You will not lose D&T. With a PW5, you will have faster page turns. |
