Of course, D&T for a Fire won't do you any good except for that Fire. For DeDRM purposes, you need a pre-2024 E-ink Kindle.

And for what it may be worth, the major difference between the N905 & N905B was using a removable µSD card for storage. The N905C had differences in the hardware. However the Kobo portion of the firmware was the same and none of them had advertisements according to a Kobo intern.

Not worth much? I'm not sure how this is relevant to the Kobo Touch having ads, other then the "intern".

As I said, going between two BW ereaders with the same resolution and a slight difference in contrast (Carta 1300) has made a big difference to me. Going to a color model when there is no compelling reason seems like a bad idea.

In the end, it's a personal decision. I've got a Clara Colour and a Clara 2E. Yes, Clara Colour has a greyer background, but I prefer to look at the color covers and the color library. I don't think going from Clara 2E to Clara BW is going to be a big difference.

Question download and transfer is disabled for 2024 models only ? Could it be as it's just come out they haven't enabled yet. Do other models still work with DT once you register current models?

We don't know for the Basic, Scribe, and Colorsoft yet. Well have to wait until others have these devices and tries D&T.

The Colorsoft will be released on Oct. 30, we’ll have to wait until then to know for sure. I wouldn’t hold my breath though to be honest; I’m pretty sure Amazon is quietly taking this functionality away.

And if the old Kindle is the only old Kindle you have, then you will lose the ability to use Download & Transfer via USB. If you then return the PW6, you lose the old Kindle. That's not a good trade-off.
