Take the python package from the Snapshots list .
Then you unpack it and you get an Update_python3_0.15.N_install_touch_pw.bin and an Update_python_0.15.N_install_touch_pw.bin

This is surprising, and that would be the first report I’ve seen of a 2024 Kindle not shipping with version 5.17.0. This being said, if it indeed came with a lower firmware, it likely would have been 5.16.21, as Amazon didn’t release a 5.16.20 version (publicly at least).

At any rate, whatever firmware your replacement device comes with, please keep in mind it is pointless to attempt to jailbreak it at this stage. The last jailbreakable firmware version (5.16.2.1.1) was released more than a year ago, there is no way any of the new 2024 devices will ship with this version (or lower).

Sounds about right to me. Kindles are usually shipped with .0 firmwares. It is only updates that are non-.0

I have a "kindle basic 10th generation" or KT4 as I learned here!
I upgraded it to 5.16.2.1.1 and tried this method here to jailbreak it. tried many times without noticing step 15 carefully, had to reset factory once, tried again many times doing it right this time and choosing right moment to copy. and in all times and all my attempts, I NEVER got the language selection screen mentioned in step 17 !!!
not once
whether I push the power button till the kindle starts, or the kindle starts by itself if I don't press the power button. it always continue boot to the kindle setup screen in English with options to setup kindle now or later!

I even tried the old one click method of language break, and it did work till it reaches the "choosing Chinese language" and I had to restart the kindle for 4 or 5 attempts.

I gave up trying to jailbreak it for now ,but I'll really appreciate if someone can help me here..
why did I never get the language selection screen? every other step from one to 16 worked exactly as written!
what did I do wrong, and how can I fix it?

Just to add the Reset button is greyed out so that's not an option.

When you look back at my posts I had a lot of problems, where most important one was coping LangiageBreak catalog to root of Kindle. You need to copy only what is inside.
And when I jailbreaked my another PW4, my demo after pushing button for Chinese language didnt went to chinese at all. I had english all the time.
I would say instruction works different for different models.
If you dont know if you are in right place, sometimes restart will get you there.


About step 15 - I always have microusb cable ready just almost plugged to Kindle. And push just when the power off info is on screen. You have maybe 2-3 seconds window.

If Reset is grayed out, that means Parental Controls are set.
Are you sure you are authorized to perform Reset on this Kindle?

I mean all I did was jailbreaking it at some point this year and thought removing it is as easy as pressing Reset (as I want to sell it). Bought second hand but definitely not stolen. Ah and the passcode is also grayed out.

Yes, this is because Parental Restrictions are on. One of the features got disabled (for example, Good Reads, Browser, Archive, Store).

So after a successful JB, I attempted to downgrade. This was after following all the steps and installing both previously mentioned hotfixes, KUAL, and renametobin. The downgrade appeared successful as I received a "succesful upgrade" message. However, now the kindle appears bricked and is stuck at the "Your kindle is restarting." screen. Holding the power button makes the screen brighten and then dim, and the light flash. This behavior happens when plugged into a PC and when on battery. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
