The trouble is my friends tend to stick to their tried and tested menu. The green beans are what the wife's mother served; canned and heated in the opened can in the oven. The husband and his brothers consume gigantic portions of mashed. I'd love to see more veggies but... beggars can't be choosers.

Half a head and half a bowl? It makes for a little variety. I try to avoid starchy veg which tends to leave me with green ones. I don't do leafy greens at dinner because I have spinach at breakfast most days.

Tonight, a three egged omelette (or at least what I was raised calling one; I think it's more like a frittata but i don't finish it in the oven). Some onions, peppers and mixed veg lightly fried, mixed with three eggs, a splash of milk and some grated cheddar.

This evening some seared salmon and a salad. I'd bought some frozen salmon fillets a few weeks ago and thought I should try them. Not bad at all; lot cheaper than buying there fresh salmon

Bacon (i.e. American bacon) has become very hip here. Neither Canadian bacon or the English style thrills my heart. I mostly don't get it. Sausage, yeah. Any kind you like. Black pudding, sure.

Sliced pork belly seems to be gaining popularity. Like a very thick cut of uncured bacon. One local restaurant has a braised pork belly on it's menu which is very delicious though it still seems to be most popular in Korean restaurants.
