According to those images it seems to be only a minor update.
  • Slightly bigger screen (7" instead of 6.8")
  • Rounded corners
  • 16 GB base storage instead of 8 GB

Is it my imagination, or does this have a flush screen?

It basically looks like a pre-Kobo Tolino.

EDIT: I'm guessing that, since it looks a lot like a Tolino, I was just "seeing" a flush screen in my head.

I tend to agree with @pdurrant. The packaging for the puported Paperwhite Gen 12 looks nothing like the retail packaging for other Kindle ereaders. The images were said to come from eBay which again makes me feel dubious about their provenance. OTOH, the MAC address comes from a block that Amazon registered in March, 2024 so would fit.

It looks real to me. The current Paperwhite says “11th gen” on the back side of the packaging.

The serial number in that photo starts with GN433X which is different from any existing Kindle. There are just too many realistic details for me.

Well, BadeReader are claiming that multiple people in retail have stated they have stock on new Kindles for release to sale on 2024-Oct-16 so we only have to wait for Wednesday. Sadly, there were claims about a release on Wednesday, 2024-Oct-09 which came to naught.

OTOH, while browsing various search results, there was one site on which a poster stated they did not really like the Kindle colour ereader and had gone back to reading on their Voyage. Admittedly, there is a 95% chance that by a Kindle colour ereader, they were referring to an Amazon Fire tablet.

Thanks Amazon but I'm sticking with my 2 10+ year old devices. I hoped too much to have something good come out this year I guess. I'll still give you some of my ebook purchases but I'll pass on your ereaders.
