Unfortunately, I have no idea. I only have to manually reload the covers for a few books on iOS

No idea if it relates to your problem or not, but I discovered that putting a .nomedia file in the library directory to prevent photos/gallery apps finding cover images also prevented Calibre Sync from finding the cover images.
A 'hidden' .nomedia file in your library or its parent dirs could be your issue? |

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. When you click on add library, don't you get this selection menu [iOS]?

Great app !!
Sorting and filtering to select just the book or books to read really useful and ( after a bit of playing around ) really easy to use. I do have an issue with using Mega cloud server, sent to you as a private email. |

How to explore my library using CalibreSync's filter option?
I'm looking for recommendations on how to explore that library using a combination of author, Series, Tags, and read/unread ... and limit filter options based upon the previously selected filters. Or find a similar way to explore the library.
I don't have a huge library, but it is not exactly small with just over 450 book, and currenlty managed on my computer via Calibre. But I also would like to carry the library in my ereader. I realize the Calibre Sync has a filter application. But I think I'm missing a step or two. For instance if I set tags for the genre and a tags of interest in the filter, i'd want to easily see a list of Series that contain books with those tags. From there I can drill down into the series to expore the actual books. Or instead of Series, see the list of authors in the library that have books with those tags, and drill down (explore) from there. Looking at the current interface, I'm not sure this is possible and a feature request would be: When filter behavior is set to AND or NOT, limit the available filter options to only those available on books that match the current selected filter set. For example if I select my Fiction tag, then the list of author filters should only show authors that have books tagged with Fiction. If multiple filters have been selected, then the lists available should be limited to those that currently properly match the combined filter. Am I missing something and this is possible now (or at least something close)? How do others do this when traveling (away from the computer)? The Boox device that I have is using the Android environment (in case that is relevant). Thanks. |

In my limited experience, that is exactly what the Filter button does. If you filter on say the tags, you can select ( tick ) any combination of tags from your list of tags, and then up the top select either AND or OR, or NOT. AND makes the selection so that BOTH tags must be present ( list gets smaller ), OR makes the selection to include all books with either tag, ( list gets bigger ), NOT of course takes those books out of the list. After making the selection, hit the tick button at the top to show the filtered list.
What is not obvious is that if you make no selection, you get everything. Thats not logical, but at least you dont start up with all lists showing nothing. It does take a bit of playing around to get the right combinations, but it does work. |

Take another look at my example, it‘s different. Unfortunately there are no parentheses possible in filtering

Just a suggestion for an enhancement to Calibre Sync, which otherwise works perfectly.
A setting to explicitly set Calibre Sync to open a preferred eReader ( I use MoonReader Pro ). Some devices. like the Onyx Boox, default to opening their proprietary reader regardless of the Android setting which supposedly allows to set a default app to launch when opening a file. Calibre Sync and Moonreader work perfectly by themselves on the Boox devices, they just dont quite work together. I am sure this is due to the customised version of Android they use, but it ought to be possible to defeat that. |

I'm referring to reducing the list of filter options as you build your filter. So if I select the "AND" option, and the first thing I select for the filter is the tag "Fiction", then all tags that are not set on books with the Fiction tag would disappear (would only see tags in use that currently match books the proposed filter). Or another way to do this would be to build the filter in steps. Build part of the filter, click apply See the list of books that matches the filter. Go back into the filter (without clearing it), and only have the ability to select tags/Authors/Series that are associated with books that match the filter that was last applied. Increase the restrictions of the filter, apply, see the new list, go back into the filter and adjust some more. Does that makes sense? |

Nice app! Just getting started with it...does anyone know how to prioritize book downloads based on file format? In other words, I batch download books to CS, to then import into MoonReader. Most books have an epub format as well as others, although there are a few that are Mobi only, or PDF only. When I selected books to download, CS asks which formats to include; books with in diff. formats have all files downloaded. Then importing into Moon+ results in multiple duplicative books. I'd like to establish a priority chain; epub, if not, Mobi, if neither, PDF, etc. Any ideas?

Unfortunately not, except to filter by format and download one after the other

Initial setup problem
I am trying Calibre Sync for the first time. Like so many others, I have loved CC for years but now have to leave. I read everything that I could about CS. My Calibre library contains books my husband wants to read and books that I want to read, obviously with overlap. In Calibre I have a virtual library for both of us and multiple custom columns. I don't want my entire library on my phone. I want my unread books from my virtual library. If someone knows an easy way of doing this I would really appreciate it. I am willing to play around and try things.
For my first attempt, I copied all my unread books into a separate Calibre library. I then followed the very strong suggestion(s) in this forum and used Windows Explorer and copied this new library onto my phone. I can access it very nicely from CS. My problem is that I don't know how to make the sync portion work. The CS folder is now not at all connected to my Calibre library on Windows. The read/unread won't sync. I don't know how to sync new books that I add to my library. Is there some way that I can link my CS folder/library with Calibre? If not, do I need to start over, delete the existing CS library and use Content Server to create all the books on my Android device(s). If I go the Content Server route, is there a way to download a virtual library and not the entire library? If not, then I will use Content Server on the smaller library I created of my unread books. Once I find what works well, I will do the same thing for my husband's books.........Jackie |

You would have to sync your Calibre library on the Windows computer with the Calibre library on your Android phone.
Now I don't know whether this is stored locally on your phone or whether you do this via a cloud. Cloud would of course be easier in my opinion as you don’t have to connect your phone to your computer for a sync. Put a copy of the Calibre library in the cloud and sync it with your computer and then simply update it with CS. Unfortunately I have no idea about Calibre's content server, never used it Edit: Regarding the different libraries for you and your husband, you could work with Saved Views in CS, but that's not really convenient. Saved views are virtually preset filters and then you still have to add the other filters. Last edited by Wiggo; 11-24-2024 at 03:13 AM. |
