Yes, it takes one to two seconds to open even +400k words books.

I have an action chain running upon double-clicking books in the library that delays a bit the opening. However, when clicking directly the EPUB format on the Book Details pane or using 'V' key, it's pretty much instantaneous.

I can't remember why I had set those env vars I mentioned, but it seems even faster now after deleting them.

Windows 10. Adding books normally gets the embedded cover, autoadd doesn't.

At first I thought it was specfically an ACSM Input issue but then I also tested with a regular ePub.

OK as am travelling I cant test on windows myself, so can you run calibre in debug mode then replicate the issue and post the debug log.

The only thing of note is DeDRM attempting to decrypt the non-DRM'd file. Disabling DeDRM doesn't resolve the issue and in that case I get nothing in debug log past all the Calibre startup messages.

Looking at the SSL certificate errors on Goodreads, have you tried visiting Goodreads in a browser (Edge, Chrome) recently? Otherwise, can you try using Amazon servers instead of Google web cache for Amazon? When I went to Amazon servers, the metadata was accessible while using Google webcache, gave the same error for the Amazon metadata as you were seeing.

Edit: For what little it may be worth, the only Amazon metadata source that is working for me is selecting Amazon servers.

Looking at the SSL certificate errors on Goodreads, have you tried visiting Goodreads in a browser (Edge, Chrome) recently?

GR loads fine on my browser. Actually I had it open on a tab while trying to get some metadata, will try more tomorrow.
