It must be an English/Australian thing - they're called hundreds and thousands over here, too. Except very occasionally on "posh" baking packing where they get called things like "mulit-coloured sugar strands" or "multi-coloured sugar vermicelli"

It's Eton Mess, rather than "Elton Mess" (is yours a typo, because I keep doing exactly the same thing? ). A brandy balloon is simply a type of glass for serving, well, brandy in:

just finished adding ads to several (more) professional directories. still waiting for one to "activate my account" (which is really annoying since i've had that account for years, but they redid their site recently, now my page is borked and i can't fix it because they want me to activate my account via the activation mail, which i didn't get, because i've had that account for approximately eleventy years... and also, their "bug report" link goes to an inactive email address... )

Screaming. I was screaming at the admin nurse for not ordering the tablet PC I need to do rounds. Then at teh software dude for not being able to find where my prescriptions are being printed. Now just screaming.

Not a typo so much as a misreading of what you had posted... though I'd never heard of Eton Mess either (I think... that sounds a bit more vaguely familiar....)

Edit -- having now looked it up, I think the nearest common US equivalent would be "Strawberry Shortcake," though this is usually made with shortbread biscuits (traditional), pound cake, or angel's food cake.

Ah. In the US I think this is called a "brandy snifter." Here I was imagining something involving brandy inside a bubble made of pastry or whipped cream or something....

Eating a doughnut as well. It has some chocolate on it. Would I feel even better if it was one of pshrynk's prescription doughnuts (now I get it, dough-nuts, right? You need one if you´re, oh well, maybe not ).
