Ok so it was really messed up some how. Really weird as it now magically works (and I didn't restart anything or make other adjustments.) Just went off to do some things and came back.

I've found documents that indicate the Simple cache is used by chrome on android. My testing shows it's also used on MacOS and linux. Chrome, Edge and Opera on Windows all use Block cache for me.

I've tested with Chrome 128 on MacOS and Linux(Ubuntu) and Chromium 128 on Linux(Ubuntu). All three use Simple cache and work with the experimental FFF code change.

Ideally, I'd like to test with older browser versions, to see when it changed and allow for back compat. But Google deliberately makes it as difficult as possible to downgrade to an older version. There might have been another user with this issue last month.

I've spent the morning failing to find the details of this chrome change. At this point, I give up. I might try to make it configurable just for peace of mind since it's release time in a few days.

Okay, this version addresses the recent issue with Chrome Browser Cache not working on Mac/Linux.

I'd like to hear if anyone has problems using Browser Cache with this version regardless of OS or Browser.

A while back the maintainer of Stories Online enhanced his site to let authors upload a cover for their story.

Can FFF download the cover images from Stories Online? I have epub as my output format, but don't see any downloaded covers. Didn't see an obvious FFF configuration setting to enable this - sorry if I missed it.

I have the same situation for Royal Road downloads.

Not much on StoriesOnline is SFW :-)

But there is a sister site SFW which I think uses the same core software.

An account is needed to view past the first chapter, but the cover shows up without an account.

Turns out FFF already downloads those covers--if it's all configured.

Default settings do download and use those covers.

There are a ton of cover settings, I can't speculate what you might have done. But there's a wiki page talking about it.

Is it possible to put the tag, or at least extratag (or whatever the equivalent for AO3) in another column than the Calibre Tag one?

I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I've associated the custom column with extra tags, and 'New only' isn't ticked, but nothing happens when I update from the saved metadata column.

I don't know if I just don't have the right field name or if I'm doing something wrong...

Interesting. In all of my use of FFF on these sites I've never seen a cover.

Is there a particular setting I need to set to make it work for me? I haven't adjusted any of the default FFF settings.

I've used the BrowserCache feature with AO3 several times before when Cloudflare's protection levels get raised. It works, but sometimes it acts a little squirrelly due to the FFF login not working with AO3 and the need to log in to read some fics (once or twice, I've even had it try to force me to log in when importing from the cache). Also, you may have to set both the flag for FFF not to open any pages in the browser (for those fics requiring a login to read) and the flag forcing it to only use the browser cache for those login-only fics.

In fact, I was able to re-import a 54 chapter fic that I somehow accidentally deleted just last week. I had to use it because Cloudflare's protections were just absolutely flipping out for some reason for a few hours (captcha pages were constantly reloading and reloading without displaying the captcha. Happened on both Vivaldi and Firefox). When I finally got the settings right in Personal.ini, 3rd attempt was the charm.

EDIT: One thing it does not do from the browser cache feature is to properly import art pages within a fic if the fic happens to have them. The regular AO3 adapter handles them just fine.

I don't know. There are a bunch of settings that could cause that--if you hadn't changed something from the default settings, I would expect you to get covers.

I've tried to cover enumerate all the options and common use cases in the cover wiki page.

If you think something is broken, you can try a download in debug mode and post the output log.

That sounds about right. If it works, great; but it's not been the target site for Browser Cache.

Well, let me backtrack on that. It isn't working at all now. Maybe it was just slipping something through Cloudflare and I wasn't realizing what was going on. Next time Cloudflare does its thing for me on AO3 I'll try again and let you know what I find out.
