If I understand correctly what foosion is asking for is just another alternative for the feature I added recently which allows a single click of the main plugin button to display the contents of a reading list. They are asking for an alternate configuration which would instead make that single click perform a Sync operation. A not unreasonable request, though you could just as easily assign a keyboard shortcut and use that instead.

My overall goal is to cut down on the number of I clicks needed to do what I want to do. The usual reason I connect to Calibre is to add books and I'd like Calibre to keep track of the books I have on my kobo. As you suggest, a keyboard shortcut is an easy alternative to clicking on Reading List then clicking Sync Now. The author of the SmartEject plugin has modified that plugin to invoke RL's sync now function on ejection, which accomplishes my goal without me needing to click on RL at all. BTW, another way to accomplish my goal would be for Send to Device to have the ability to put a checkmark in an onkobo column. EDIT: Another way would be to use Action Chains, but reportedly it does not Sync Now reliably. A simpler version of Action Chains would be a plugin to create keyboard macros - combine multiple keyboard shortcuts into a single keypress. Last edited by foosion; 08-16-2024 at 06:57 AM.

I plug in, Send to Device, then SmartEject. For those not aware, add this to the conf file so you don't have to tap "connect": [DeveloperSettings] AutoUsbGadget=True

AutoUSBGadget only removes the need to hit connect/cancel. You still need to reconnect your Kobo either by plugging/unplugging your Kobo or by using a USB connect item in NickelMenu to do this. Without that second connection, most of the metadata will not be sent since there is no database entry to place the metadata in.

An alternative would be to do the same with a custom checkbox column.

This combines well with Reading List because RL can "clean up" the tags on connect, dealing with books deleted directly on the device. No need for Smart Eject unless you want something it does such as the Eject toolbutton. NB: you can create a keyboard shortcut for Eject with Action Chains.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=103 Otherwise, you have to plug/unplug or run a NickelMenu function or action chains as suggested above. Last edited by foosion; 08-17-2024 at 09:18 AM.

I'd thought to use Reading List's Sync Now with Action Chains, but reportedly that doesn't work consistently. SmartEject with the modification for running Sync Now before ejecting also works and lets you do it with one click (or keyboard shortcut).
