Formatting bug - Text flows off scrren

I've had my Kindle 2 for a few weeks and just ran into a formatting problem with the book "Enterprise Integration Patterns". About three chapters into the book, I noticed that some of the text was flowing off the screen and couldn't be read. After some experimenting, I found ...

Changing the font size didnt' seem to help. Different parts of the text went missing.
I could turn on text-to-speech and the entire text was read correctly.
When I used the thumbstick to navigate, it would mark (with the vertical line) several lines at once, not just one line. Once the region was selected, I could scroll left and right with the thumbstick. Usable, but slow.

This only appears to happen with sidebar notes and the example sections.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this book? Is this something that could be fixed with a software update? What's the best way to report a problem to the publisher?

I'm not sure, but I bet the problem sections were formatted with tables. The K2 can have tables that are larger than the screen. Can you post a screen shot?

I thought it might be related to tables. The frustrating part of it is that, at least in the case I have shown, there is no need for table formatting; it's just a single paragraph of text.

If you can scroll to the right then the problem is definitely caused by a table. I'd ask for a refund. That book has a major deficiency. Also, complain to the publisher.

If may be text formatted with a <PRE> tag. That won't "word wrap". If that is the case, it's not strictly speaking a bug - that's the way that pre-formatted text is supposed to behave.

MobiPocket does not have support for the <pre> tag.

The Kindles don't support <pre> but they do support <tt> and <code>, see Kindle Formatting: The Complete Guide. Does this represent an extension of MOBI that only applies to AZW?

I got the mobileread Kindle blog for a while, but cancelled it because of this problem. Any text in boxes seemed to be formatted for a screen larger than the Kindle's and the right side of it "ran off the screen."

Annoying.

So far I haven't seen it in a book, but I think it's certainly a good reason to ask for a refund.
