I love when the Library Extension lists a book I want to buy available available at one of my Overdrive libraries. Especially when there's no waitlist!

What I like is being able to get a book I want that's going to be popular before having to go on the wait list or being able to get on hold for the day it come out.

Will this notify you if a book becomes available? This does look a little easier then using Libby.

I think sticking a fork up your nose is easier than using Libby.

No. All it does is add a link to several sites (Goodreads, Kobo, Fantastic Fiction) telling you if the book is available.

I find the Libby website is not all that bad. It mostly does what I want.

I'm reading "One of us knows" by Alyssa Cole, and it's really good, but also so tense that I need to take breaks. I don't usually read horror, but this one's intriguing: Ken has multiple personality disorder, and the main personality has been dormant for six years when she suddenly finds herself back, waiting for a boat to take her to an island where she's been hired as a caretaker of a historic castle. Except: None of the personalities remember applying for the job.

There are multiple levels of horror: There's something supernatural in the castle, there's something going between the multiple personalities (has one of them been lying to the others?), there are real world horrors of racism, sexism, and powerful men with no scruples, and also: The last time she was out in the world was in 2014 - why do I carry surgical masks and disinfectant in my pockets?

I was delighted today by the legalese in a self-published novel, which I copy/paste here:

That looks about one step above the early 90s fan-fiction disclaimers we used to see (except folks were begging not to be sued by the studios)

It reminded of the disclaimer one friend of mine used to use in his emails. One recipient took umbrage at his comment that the toy poodle living next door was living on borrowed time.

My personal favourite was: "The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary."

I once saw a disclaimer on a fanfiction warning readers that they shouldn't murder people in real life.
