Bedsheets/blankets so tangled and twisted that you have to get up and turn on a light to correct the problem. Then the alarm goes off 5 minutes after getting it all sorted.

I sometimes open the freezer door because I want to see what's behind what's out in front.

So on Monday I waited all afternoon for the fiber internet guys to show up. All day I heard drilling throughout the building, but they never showed up. The next day my sister called them and they told her that the appointment was for Thursday, while she's sure she set it for Monday.
On Wednesday morning I ran some errands in the city center. When I wasn't home they called my sister why nobody was there to open the door. She told them the appointment was for Thursday. Yesterday they finally came. First someone to drill the hole in the wall and get the cable inside. An hour later someone to finish the job; install and connect the cable to a little box/outlet, neatly finish off the hole in the wall, test the cable and vacuum. And that was it, or so we thought. My sister went to an HOA meeting last night and neighbours told her that they were told that in the next couple of weeks they internet guys have to come by again to test the cable/connection/whatever. They never said anything about that to me or my sister. The drilling in the building is still continuing and I'm going a bit crazy from the noise. So, despite the crappy weather, I'm going on a little city trip to Amersfoort. The work was planned for this week and next week. I'm hoping they finish today, at least the noisy parts. All this for the new owner. Because we're not going to change our internet for the two months we're still here. |

Why do people who are reviewing the new color Kobo devices keep describing the text as "crispy"? It's "crisp", not "crispy"! I've read it and heard it a dozen or more times in the last week.

So as I understand it, the way it works now is one day a near-illiterate self-proclaimed journalist (aka "influencer") misuses "crispy" that way in a barely-intelligible online review, the next day all the "influenced" copy and paste it, or retweet it, or whatever, and the third day the web crawler bot that serves in place of an editor for dictionary.com lists the new definition for 'crispy', and now you're oppressive, insensitive and offensive for daring to suggest it's wrong. Maybe they're putting the readers in the oven. That would make the device crispy, and thus the text displayed on the device also crispy.

Vent: Sometimes I am able to make words easy even the long ones. Other times I can't think of the words and they are hard and forget.
Could not remember the word 'anonymous.' Last edited by ownedbycats; 04-26-2024 at 08:28 PM. |
