Kobo µSD Card Image Requests

I got the 2 images for the N418 Libra 2. I have tried both images on 2 different sd cards with 3 different image writing apps and cannot get any of them to boot. It stays on the power off screen and does a quick flash then nothiing. Trying a hard reset did nothing.

The original card still works, but will not do a hard reset and freezes often.

I made an image of the original, wrote it to one of the sd cards and it booted, so it looks like the new card and the process works. When I compared one that didn't work to one that does in partition manager, they look identical. I have not expanded the partition on either card.

I'm stuck. Could it be the image? Anyone have any ideas?

Since multiple people have used the images without reporting your issue, I'm somewhat doubtful that it is the images. The only other person who reported a similar problem stated they were going to try cleaning the uSD card socket and never returned to say if this helped or not. Since your copy of the original card worked, I suspect that this is not your issue.

Did you try a manual factory reset on the copy of the original uSD card using a page turn button and the power button?

Yes, that's what I've read is the hard reset rather than the factory reset. It will do a factory reset but it doesn't fix anything. I believe there is a problem with the recovery partition that is keeping it from a hard reset back the original version it shipped with. I tried install an older firmware but the problems were still there.

I expanded my Clara several years ago with no problems, so this isn't the first time I've done this. Plus, I've imaged PCs multiple times. I guess I'll give it a rest and try again later and hope something changes.

There are multiple resets but the three factory resets are in two types. The factory reset from the Settings => Device Information => Factory Reset basically just clears out any user information and does not overwrite the system software. If you have enabled Developer Mode and go to Settings => Device Information =>Developer Options, there is a Factory reset option there which like the hardware factory reset, uses the recovery partition to restore the ereader to factory state.

Thank you, I forgot about that one! I started messing with the original image on the new card and things are working again. I was able to do a hard reset to the version it came with. Maybe the original card's recovery partition is defective in some way, but it was able to write it to the new card.

Hello, my Kobo Kobo Aura H2O has blank white screen after a failed manual reset. SD card seems to be corrupted and won't mount. I don't have a backup unfortunately.
