You should buy a sleepcover. Whether you buy the official one or not is your choice.

Eink screens aren't as resilient as the phone and tablet screens we are used to, so get a case.

I always buy third party sleepcovers and have not had a bad experience regardless of the brand. I suspect most of them are all churned out of the same factory and then sold by different dealers.

Depends. How are with your devices? Early on, I bought covers, but for the past ~10 years I haven't. My mother is rather careless with her Kobos (no covers), and she haven't broken a screen; scratches yes, broken screen no.

Maybe if you like the sleep cover functionality.

I like my Fintie cover as it is also an easel stand for reading while eating, etc. and unlike the origami versions that do not stand exactly level this one does. I can't stand it when one side is lower than the other and I've never tried an origami version that didn't do that. I've used Fintie stands on everything for at least a decade now. Wouldn't have a device without it.

No. I've seen a couple of references to it as being higher contrast and speed compared to a Carta 1300 but not much else. The release data was suggested as Q1/Q2 2024.

edit: This was from reports on a Taiwanese tech show if I recall correctly.

Even finding a reference to the Carta 1300 displays is damn near impossible even on EInk's site. The one module that was available in their online store has now disappeared without even a Not available. All that seems to remain are claims scattered around the Internet that the Carta 1300 displays are 27% faster with 20% higher contrast than the Carta 1200 displays.

I agree. I also think a Kobo Clara Color makes no sense given a Kobo Libra Color.

Of course it makes sense. Personally I would like to have a 6“ device and a 7“ device with Kaleido 3 Display additionally to my PocketBook InkPad Color 3 and that’s what I‘m waiting for.
